There's a huge advert for her new album at the top of the page. AIBU to not see the point of her?

She lacks expertise or tenacity in any area, just flits from one thing to another and comes out of the woodwork when she needs some cash. I see no talent within her.

Do you start a thread every time a singer you don't like launches a record or doesn't fit your life and career standards?

nigelsbigface · 20/08/2017 07:56

I dunno-I heard her on radio 5 last week and she was actually quite funny and articulate and spoke quite honestly about the DV she and her mum suffered in her childhood. She didn't seem to Have it easy and has made a good life for herself despite that.
Her music isn't for me but I can't see what she's done wrong over and above lots of other public figures.
That said sometimes we take against slebs for no reason...I used to get hugely irritated by Fiona Philips-no real reason why.
Can't like everyone I suppose...

WannabeChild · 20/08/2017 08:02

Testtube, okay fair enough she's done a bit more than Eastenders but that is what she is most known for. There's nothing wrong with what she's achieved (she's done quite well for soap star) but to me she's came across as she's too big for her boots.

Thats just my opinion however.

She's been dining out on being in EE for decades now, oh and that one song. I honestly don't remember her for doing anything else but those two things.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/08/2017 08:28

Well I think she's lovely !

NerrSnerr · 20/08/2017 09:19

I'd love you to tell us what the point of you is? I'm sure you're living such a worthy life.

It's fine not to like someone, but it's odd to dislike a singer so much you'd start a thread about it. Just turn the radio or telly off if you dislike her work so much.

fairycakecentral · 20/08/2017 10:45

I don't know her, or much about her so from that point of view the ad doesn't bother me.

It DOES bother me that her single is rubbish (seen a few clips on the tv) but she's getting a shed load of publicity because of her previous stint at singing. There are so many talented folks that won't get a look in because we are being fed a diet of crap by very very average singers.

And given that the artist ends up paying for every single penny the record company spends (used to be the case) and that record sales don't translate into much actual cash, she's going o have to be touring, appearing on tv, interviews etc to make any actual money. We probably going yo seeing a lot more of her. Hope her next song is a bit better

pilates · 20/08/2017 10:51

Needs must I suppose. She is just relying on what she has trained for like we all do when we need some money. At least she has an ounce of talent, which is more than some of the celebs nowadays.

The way cookies work are that the ads are tailored to the individual, not just MN users. They obviously think you would like her based on your internet activity.

highinthesky · 20/08/2017 11:01

Bloody hell! Shock

I realised this for a number of other ads that spring up on my screen, but I thought this is displayed on prime space dominated by MN.

LuLuuuuuuu · 20/08/2017 11:05

Perhaps she wouldn't see the point of YOU either though OP

What a bizarre thread.

LottieDoubtie · 20/08/2017 11:08

Yes I haven't seen this ad at all. It's not MN who have decided we all want to see it.

Fwiw I don't mind her.

Kewcumber · 20/08/2017 11:24

Sorry to break the bad news to you OP but I haven't seen the ad either Grin

Get an adblocker - you can then enjoy without the pleasure or not of Ms McCutcheon.

Some very defensive posts on here. Are we only allowed to talk about celebs we like now?

I used to be a fan but like others have said, she doesn't stick at anything and I lost interest. Olivier award notwithstanding, I think her leaving My Fair Lady due to illness/stage fright and being pictured out and about at the time did her acting career a lot of damage. She should have got back on track a few years later with Love Actually but she blew that chance at a party that Blonde mentioned.

I think she's a talented lady but she hasn't played the game as well as she could have done and it's going to take more than posting a bottom selfie on Instagram to get her career back to where it was.

supersop60 · 20/08/2017 11:26

I haven't seen this ad. I don't mind her - I liked her character on Eastenders and she has quite a good voice (but nothing out of the ordinary).
Just don't buy her album. The ads will stop soon.

pilates · 20/08/2017 11:29

highinthesky she has been appearing on mine too 😂 What does that say about us I wonder?

Gottagetmoving · 20/08/2017 11:29

Let's get rid of everyone you doing see the point of. Hmm
Lots of people DO see the point of her.
What's the point of you?

Gottagetmoving · 20/08/2017 11:30

Don't....not doing, sorry.

cushioncovers · 20/08/2017 11:30

Have you noticed since her comeback she bears a striking resemblance to Arlene Phillips?!

I thought the same. Smile

NoCapes · 20/08/2017 11:31

I haven't seen the ad
But I don't really mind her, seems harmless enough

I get lots of adverts about getting your baby to sleep through the night!

Lelloteddy · 20/08/2017 11:31

No ad here either.
Heard her on radios the other morning. Funny and self deprecating. Not a particularly in depth radio appearance but I find it difficult to become suffieciently irritated by someone I've never met to post and internet thread slating them.
