Aibu to be pissed off (conveyor theives)

Putting my weeks shopping on the conveyor at the local supermarket. I had only put about 4 items on so far when a couple ran down and start throwing all of there shopping directly by mine leaving me maybe half a foot of room for my whole trolley full Angry
Won't lie I purposely took ages to hand all my items one by one to the lovely check out lady who looked apologetic for the cheeky fecker. Aibu to have let them annoy me ? Have any of you had this happen ?

YANBU. It's a simple invasion on conveyor belt space. Isn't it a rule that you don't start loading your stuff onto the conveyor until the last person has either put down one of those triangular thingies or, if not available, a good few inches of clear belt between your stuff and theirs. I'm 100% with you on this.

I hate it when block the entire width of the aisle with their trolley while deciding what kind of bin-bag (or whatever) to buy. Just rude.

That's really bloody rude! No you're not being unreasonable, I'd have taken as long as humanly possible to put my shopping through the till if someone tried that bollocks with me.

Yes it's happened to me more than once. I just tell them firmly to give me space for my shopping & wait their turn.

But I like OP' s approach of slowly handing items to the cashier one by one.

I don't understand why people do this either. I try to be extra awkward when they do because I'm petty like that and make a point of the fact I now don't have enough room for my stuff yet. People are so impatient sometimes!

If people do that to me I continue loading and shove their stuff back if it's in my way. I shop in Lidl and it seems it's ok to unload at the end of the previous person only has a basket (otherwise you're still unloading when the till operator has started scanning and piling your stuff up and you can't catch up!)

Or alternatively you could have actually said, "Excuse me but could you just wait a minute until I've got all my shopping on the belt please?"

God I hate that . Somebody told me they thought I had enough space I just said no and stopped unloading and stood still looking at them until they moved their stuff
I'm not paying for squashed food because of their rudeness

I had this the other day. I had a huge trolley full and was in Aldi so it has to all be on the belt. Woman with basket behind me and I offer her to go ahead but she says no it's ok. Unpacks right next to me giving me no space. Normally I'd be assertive but I felt like shit that day. Ended up having to pile stuff up and it took so much longer. Still can't understand why she didn't just go in front or give me some bloody space

Oh this has happened to me a few times recently. The last time a middle aged man was so busy chucking his things on the belt while talking to the person behind him that he didn't hear me saying' excuse me' in my polite voice. I lost the tag and bellowed 'I'M NOT FINISHED UNPACKING MY TROLLEY, MOVE YOUR STUFF AND WAIT YOUR BLOODY TURN'

The look on his face was priceless (I'm only 5 foot 1 and look much younger than an actually am) and the checkout lady was only moderately successful in holding in her chuckles.

It's happened to me. I move their stuff back. The way I look at it is this - I am the deciding factor in how quickly they get to their turn, and they've just pissed me off. It's not a clever move, is it?

In Lidl or Aldi I go quickly anyway but in other supermarkets I go into dawdle mode with people who try this shit. It's just rude.

My mum did this when I shopped with her the other day. Put all our stuff on the belt (about 10 things) and was chatting then I realised the lady in front hadn't finished (she had a basket so I couldn't quite see) I quickly moved all our stuff back and said sorry I thought you'd finished. I am not sure my mum caught my point but the lady gave me a smile. I wonder how often my mum does it when I'm not there! To be fair shes just oblivious rather than intentionally doing it but still Blush

I haven't had that happen to me (yet) but the other week when I ventured into ASDA I turned around from packing my trolley to pay at the chip and pin machine and accidently knocked into the lady behind me, she was standing right in front of the machine blocking it.
I must admit I did give her a deathly stare while wanting to say " do you want to pay for my shopping?, if not then bugger off out of my personal space and wait her turn"

Drag the trolley behind you instead of in front, then at least you have the trolley length along the conveyor. Unload it from the front.

This happened to me on a self service till. Id just bagged up and was about to pay and this bloke came charging over to the machine, dumped his basket down and just stared at me. I ignored him and, yes, took ages to pay/rearrange bag.

My late Mum was tiny wouldnt say boo to a goose, she suffered really badly from depression, was sent by a GP (obviously way ahead of his time) in the 60s on an intensive assertive traiing course, someone pushed ahead of her one day like this, she wacked the bloke on the head with a white cabbage, said "I believe I was next", I laughed so much, I had to go and wait outside the shop!

and when people block the whole aisle by standing in the middle of it with their trolley I knew I shouldn't have gone to Morrisons instead of Waitrose

Yes I could have but with the week iv had it was better that I kept my mouth shut all together because I would have snapped.
Just this week my DGMIL and DBIL have been in hospital for some serious health concerns and DSIS has unfortunately miscarried .
I just know that I would have snapped so thought it better to have a bit of petty revenge .

I had the opposite recently - a man only had a few things to buy. He let them get all the way to the checkout person, with a full length of empty belt, but kept standing right at the beginning of the belt, so I couldn't start unloading my trolley. His stuff was being put through, and I couldn't even begin unloading.

I thought of MN immediately.

When this happened to me I completely lost my filter and said the first thing that came into my head - Ooh I'll need more room than that! Seemed to work ok.
