To let the dog sleep in my bed whilst DH is away?

A week on Wednesday, DH goes away with work for two days. On the Thursday, my ddog is due to be neutered.

AIBU to let him spend Wednesday night sleeping in his mummy's bed getting loads of attention and cuddles whilst it's just the two of us??!

He's normally confined to the kitchen on a night (which he hates!) so my main concern is that he realises what he's missing and it unsettles him?

He's a French bulldog btw

I would definitely do it!

M5tothesouthwest · 18/08/2017 21:41

In the bed? That's gross. Sorry.

On the bed? Well I wouldn't, but each to their own.

RefuseTheLies · 18/08/2017 21:41

YANBU.

My DH is in for a shock when he gets back from his work trip - our toddler DD and two cats have moved in to our bed Grin

Crumbs1 · 18/08/2017 21:42

Yuk. Revolting.

WeeMadArthur · 18/08/2017 21:42

I would normally say no because the Ddog will expect to stay every night, but after an operation is different as they will still be in pain and needing comfort. I set up a camp bed in the living room when my DDog had an op as he was really suffering and the vets wouldn't let me give him any more painkillers and he was much happier being near me.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/08/2017 21:43

YABU for not letting him sleep there all the time.

Ankleswingers · 18/08/2017 21:44

Not in the bed Shock

On top of the covers, maybe.

I wouldn't do either personally.

Ginkypig · 18/08/2017 21:46

I don't think it a big deal except you need to be ready for the possibility that he won't want to stop once dh is back and causes issues.

OverTheHammer · 18/08/2017 21:46

Well obviously not IN the bed! (Although ... ?)

No I mean on top of the covers, just for one night and then I'll wash all the bedding the day next day.

The best thing about life as a single mum in a LDR is that 12 nights out of 14 I can have all the cats in my bed if I want Grin

Do it! Hope his op goes well, poor pupper x

Socksey · 18/08/2017 21:46

To let him sleep on your bed? Not BU
Referring to yourself as his 'mummy? .... just a bit.... unless you are a dog...

caffeinestream · 18/08/2017 21:47

Will it cause problems when he has to go back downstairs the following night? That would be my only concern!

OverTheHammer · 18/08/2017 21:48

I adopted him, I'm his mother 😝

Of course you should. Lots of tlc.

ItsNachoCheese · 18/08/2017 21:48

I best tell nachodog to get out the bed... 😂 hes slept in/on the bed since the night i got him. Sheets and bedding washed at very regular intervals so all good. Oh and no man to steal my duvet 😂😂

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 18/08/2017 21:49

Let the poor fella sleep wherever he likes, no matter what people think!

It's not every day he gets his bollocks chopped off - if cuddles in the middle of the night comfort him even minorly absolutelydo it!

Imamouseduh · 18/08/2017 21:49

Ah yes, I let my dog on the bed one night six years ago. He's going back to his own bed any minute now.

Nothing wrong with a dog or two on the bed.

chipsandpeas · 18/08/2017 21:52

i would but then my dog spends part of the night on top of my bed then he decides to fuck off to his own bed

Imissmyboy · 18/08/2017 21:53

My old dog always slept on the bed when DH was away. He never tried to get on the bed when he was home.
New dog is a bit cheekier and does jump on the bed with us. He's allowed to stay as long as he's at the bottom and doesn't wriggle round!
Bed gets hoovered every morning though!

Eifla · 18/08/2017 21:54

My dog has slept on my bed since he was six weeks old. He's now 14.

Bed linen is washable, I'm still alive.

Do it.

Llanali · 18/08/2017 21:54

No thanks, I have a collection of big dogs. I will
Occasionally allow an adult through in the winter when my husband is working late, but not any of those who will kick off about going back through to the kitchen, and never young ones.

Ethereall · 18/08/2017 21:55

Do it. I always have my two little doggies with me when my husband has to go away. They sleep on the bed and it's lovely. No problems when he comes home as they just go back into the kitchen at night. To see their excitement when they realise they are getting the privilege is a joy to behold.

kaytee87 · 18/08/2017 21:56

Yanbu. Don't see the problem, dogs are cleaner than a lot of humans Wink
