To let the dog sleep in my bed whilst DH is away?

A week on Wednesday, DH goes away with work for two days. On the Thursday, my ddog is due to be neutered.

AIBU to let him spend Wednesday night sleeping in his mummy's bed getting loads of attention and cuddles whilst it's just the two of us??!

He's normally confined to the kitchen on a night (which he hates!) so my main concern is that he realises what he's missing and it unsettles him?

He's a French bulldog btw

Does doggy wipe his bottom? No..... There's your answer

caoraich · 19/08/2017 08:58

Let him sleep where he wants.
If a pet is clean enough to live in your house surely he's clean enough to come into your bedroom.
Disclaimer: DP is away and this morning I was woken by purring and gentle pawing from the cat that has taken up residence on his pillow Grin

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 19/08/2017 09:02

My dog always sleeps with me when DH is away, she loves it, I love it, win, win.
She has no problem going back to her own bed when DH gets home and seems to still love him despite him stealing her spot Grin

Steeley113 · 19/08/2017 09:04

Mine does randomer, on the carpet usually Grin

IrritatedUser1960 · 19/08/2017 09:05

My cats always sleep with me, I can't sleep without them.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 19/08/2017 09:06

Lmao! Grin

WineAndTiramisu · 19/08/2017 09:17

Definitely let him, I always do of mine are ill or had an operation (and if DP isn't around and won't find out!)

cricketballs · 19/08/2017 09:35

As usual with these threads there are the posters who think that just being in the same air space of a dog will mean instant death because of germs!

Our dog sleeps on our bed every night - she does prefer it when DH is working away as she claims his side

13Bastards · 19/08/2017 09:37

Absolutely fine! Often we have all 3 cats on the bed in the winter. We may be disgusting Slatterns, but we are at least very warm!

SleepForTheWeek · 19/08/2017 09:37

Bluetongue - yes - 2 adults, a toddler and a baby in a side car crib! Very cosy bed.

Pollypudding · 19/08/2017 09:49

Hold on a minute- the OP is talking about the dog sleeping in/on the bed the night BEFORE the operation! Clearly motivated by guiltGrin. Hope your dDog is fine and let him sleep on the bed if it makes everyone happy!

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 19/08/2017 09:53

It would be a no from me!
My french bulldog would snore in my face and fart ferociously all night Grin

crazyspaniellady · 19/08/2017 10:14

YES! Whenever I'm in the house overnight by myself I let my two (three, if we have a foster) sleep on my bed. They don't expect it all the time and ONLY if they are clean and don't bother the cat.

Although I have been known to shower them just so they can sleep upstairs Grin but I'm a bit of a soft touch with my dogs

I would be mindful of your pooches stitches though, they could catch/split when jumping on and off of your bed.

zeezeek · 19/08/2017 10:17

YABU for not letting him sleep there all the time

This!! Grin

Jessesbitch · 19/08/2017 10:24

My dogs normally sleep on sofa downstairs but when we take them away on holiday they cry all night until they can get in the same room or in bed with me. They are fine when we get back home. At home they only come in with me if they are ill or I am (drunk or hungover usually).

Louloucharlie · 19/08/2017 10:47

Whilst it's lovely to be so close to your pets that you can & love to cuddle up to them ( past experience with cat here ) I put a stop to that when I was reading about lymes disease in the news & the unfortunate people that contracted it. I suppose ticks can transfer from pets anytime / and / or ticks can be brought in from walking in grass. I immediately put a stop & discouraged my cat getting in my bed. Each to their own, it's not really hygienic but I agree the cuddles are lovely.

quercuscircus · 19/08/2017 11:00

If a french bulldog smells even a quarter as bad as your typical greasy labrador then YWDBVU!!!

Also, he'll never want to sleep downstairs again. How about a bed on the floor?

Mumof41987 · 19/08/2017 11:01

My jackapoo sleeps with me and dh every night and she loves it as much as we do . Why do you lock your dog in kitchen ??? I could never do that if I knew the dog hated it Hmm

AppleJuiceFlood · 19/08/2017 11:03

One of the greatest joys in my life (seriously) is our dog sleeping with my husband and I. He loves it so much and we was our sheets a lot. The happiness it brings is way worth a bit of hair and slobber.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 19/08/2017 13:53

Why do you lock him in the kitchen all night if he hates it? I'm sure you wouldn't leave him alone for 8+ hours in the day, so why at night?

My dogs sleep in my bed every night. In fact, I woke up this morning with BoyDog in my arms Grin.

Let him sleep in the bed - or at least let him have his bed in your bedroom while he recovers from the shock of having his balls chopped off.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 19/08/2017 13:55

And because I like any excuse to post cute pictures of my dogs:

YetAnotherSpartacus · 19/08/2017 14:02

It's not every day he gets his bollocks chopped off Lucky really.

Not a dog person, but if he was a cat he'd already be snuggled up next to me. :)

Teddy7878 · 19/08/2017 14:03

My cat always sleeps on the bed. Definitely do it

tamepanda · 19/08/2017 14:06

Do it! I loved sleeping with my dog on the bed.

MeltorPeltor · 19/08/2017 14:10

DH and I are in separate beds due to me being fat, pregnant and grumpy.

So the dog sleeps in my bed every night, just like he did when I was single. Sometimes under the covers curled up under my bump, sometimes with his head poking out and on DH's pillow. DH is NOT keen on this happening but I hate sleeping alone.

He knows if DH is in the bed with me, he's not allowed (so he'll go and sleep on 'his' bed that DH is currently in!)
