to be annoyed with this topless lady?

... we r on holiday in a family resort in sunny country. There is a lady who keeps ending up on the sun loungers opposite us, who seems to enjoy lying topless by the pool everyday. She has a DS who looks about 15, and a DD who looks about 5.

I think it's really inappropriate to sunbathe topless on a family resort in full view of everyone and right by the toddler pool, and with her own DS around. Am I being unreasonable in feeling uncomfortable and wishing she'd cover up?? Smile

Men going topless is also disgusting

So presumably you never visit any pools or beaches anywhere in the world, as men are pretty much always topless in their swimwear?

squoosh · 19/08/2017 20:19

Then go skiing.

MehMehAndMeh · 19/08/2017 20:24

No Very I do not.

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 20:24

Thinking about it, it's a sad state that nudity is so offensive to some people.

We were all born naked, we've all got naked bodies, many cultures around the world are totally or near naked most of the time, great artists have painted wonderful nudes, but for some people a naked human being has become twisted into a shameful, 'disgusting' thing.

I wonder where that hang up comes from? Confused

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 20:25

No Very I do not

Phew.

JacquesHammer · 19/08/2017 20:25

Meh

You repression and attitude to the human body is beyond odd.

Very it's obviously a massive symbol 😄

dimdarkashian · 19/08/2017 20:26

I know I'm going to be flamed for this...
Fat..,yes
Nice body...no

dimdarkashian · 19/08/2017 20:27

Nudity is NOT offensive

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 20:30

Meh, why is the human form so disgusting to you? Is this a by-product of your upbringing?

squoosh · 19/08/2017 20:31

This thread reminded me of the eagle from the Muppet Show and his thoughts on nudity. He's not a fan.

MehMehAndMeh · 19/08/2017 20:36

Nudity in itself not offensive, uninvited nudity is offensive. You have no option but to remove yourself from the situation.

JacquesHammer · 19/08/2017 20:38

You have no option but to remove yourself from the situation

Exactly. If you're not happy the only reasonable course of action is to remove yourself.

I wouldn't call "nudity" at a pool uninvited though. There's always the assumption

Luncharmstrong · 19/08/2017 20:39

I agree op.
She should keep her boobs to herself

squoosh · 19/08/2017 20:41

But she is keeping them to herself isn't she? Unless I missed a detail where she's wandering around the perimeter of the pool asking everyone to have a quick squeeze.

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 20:49

She should keep her boobs to herself

Why? If topless bathing is legal in that country (which it would appear it is) and it isn't against the venue's rules (which it appears it isn't), what was wrong with her being topless?

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 20:53

I'd like to think she was going around 'motorboating' all of the husbands by the pool Grin

Serialweightwatcher · 19/08/2017 20:56

I don't like topless sunbathers either - I don't want my DH looking at other women's boobs because mine have gone to pot Sad

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 21:01

I don't want my DH looking at other women's boobs because mine have gone to pot

Does that just apply to perky bouncy 'young' breasts? Or is it all breasts, however 'battle worn' they may be?

Agnus86 · 19/08/2017 21:08

I agree by the pool covrr up but on the beach i feel its all good to not cover up. But only in family resorts. I wouldnt get my baps out as there horrible after having my dd.

Witsender · 19/08/2017 21:09

Pmsl. I would be amazed if my husband sat and stared at breasts. They're just boobs. And they're all different shapes, why would he be disappointed by yours after looking at someone else's? If you think that's likely then you have a husband issue.b

GladAllOver · 19/08/2017 21:16

It is so sad that in this day and age some women can actually call the sight of breasts 'disgusting'.
Are you real?

FFS! Poor woman.

That will be me next week in a holiday village resort and I will be topless. I don't have an amazing body and quite small breasts but I don't want tan lines on all my lovely dressesz

They are just breasts. Nothing sexual about them. My kids always in and out of bedroom/bathroom when I'm bathing getting changed and I never cover up, it's just my body and there is nothing sexual about it when I'm around my kids.

Stop looking and judging her and enjoy your holiday.

ChinkChink · 19/08/2017 21:32

I've no problem with people going topless, but it begs the question - if it's acceptable because the human body is nothing to be ashamed of [and it isn't] then logically shouldn't we be equally accepting of someone sunbathing naked?

If not, why not?

VeryCunningStunt · 19/08/2017 21:47

It doesn't bother me, I grew up seeing plenty of naked sunbathers (mostly German, from memory).

As someone said upthread, a little bit of clothing is far more suggestive than basic nudity.
