To think the hotel shouldn't allow this?

On holiday in Croatia (which is lovely). Yesterday a sign appears in our hotel and under everyone's door saying the pool will be closed for tomorrow for a private wedding party. Now there is only one pool in the hotel and the hotel isn't advertised as one that does weddings and nothing was mentioned in the reviews. We were planning on being out and about today anyway so it doesn't actually impact on us but aibu in thinking that you should be able to use the only pool in your hotel?

110% not being unreasonable. I'd be be pissed off in a major fuckin way.
If I got told I couldn't use a facilities I'd paid for. Even if it were for a Royal Coronation. Never mind a randomers wedding.

Morphene · 17/08/2017 14:47

Not on to advertise facilities which are then not usable by guests.

Pretty straight forward YANBU I think

LynetteScavo · 17/08/2017 14:53

I'd crash the wedding. I bet they'll have a fab buffet Grin

Does this wedding party not watch Eastenders?

😱

Whether or not you wanted to use the pool you should register your displeasure and ask what compensation they will be giving you , if you don't then this sort of thing will become the norm . If you have paid for a hotel with daily use of a pool then that is what you should get .

I was at the Epidaurus hotel 10 mins along the bay (next to Albatross) in June, there were def more than a few non-residents using the pools including groups of local school boys. I think the hotel knew and didn't mind. Didn't bother me as the pools were still cold then so I wasn't bothered about going in them.
Anyway my point is you could probably visit neighbouring pools without any bother.

Cavtat's lovely though, isn't it. I hope it doesn't get ruined by mass tourism in the next couple of years.

Leccybill, we were at the Albatross last September (4th time since 2001 🤗), Cavtat hasn't changed at all in 16 years.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/08/2017 17:04

You have paid for access to the pool and no longer have it, but the hotel has also taken money from the wedding party so in effect a double booking with them being the one to benefit

Exactly, and as with the PP's example of a hotel doing this 5 days out of 7, that's why it's important to complain ... to stop this becoming the norm

Nobody's suggesting OP spoils her holiday over it - just a quick word with a manager and done (oh, and the Trip Advisor review later)
