To want to shoot my friend

...for naming his daughter Tinkerbell?

I know I am actually BU as it's none of my business etc. Also shooting people is generally not the way to approach such matters.

I feel so sorry for the poor kid. She's going to go through torture at school. Not to mention thee rest of her life. Imagine a high court judge called Tinkerbell.

I favour the leg of lamb - DD2 has an Adonis in her yr5 class - he hasn't turned into one yet - but there is time - otherwise poor lad!

Catnapqueen · 16/08/2017 21:54

Someone I know named their DS Cacus from Roman mythology - a fire breathing giant who ate human flesh and nailed his victim's heads to the doors to his cave. Why anyone would want to name their child after such an awful character is baffling Confused

StrangeLookingParasite · 16/08/2017 21:54

Zizi. That one should never come to France. People won't be able to keep a straight face.

Dawnedlightly · 16/08/2017 21:55

Hmmmm
Of course it's ridiculous. But I'm intrigued to think about the fab reception and attention she'd get at nursery and first at school and how great that would be for her self esteem. And Tin or Belle are great for later on.

OFuckShitAndBollocks · 16/08/2017 21:59

strange the restaurant chain zizi, never was able to go in there and when people mentioned going I could never hold back the childish sniggers

Kitty1991 · 16/08/2017 22:07

LegoCaltrops my daughter is called Pixie... I wonder if I know you Grin

karenharrison · 16/08/2017 22:08

Just looked up Zizi - poor kid.

honeyroar · 16/08/2017 22:11

She's going to get called Stinky Tinky at school or Stinkabelle! We adopted a cat called Tinkerbelle, we even thought it was horrible for a cat so she became Tink.

You can just about guarantee calling your son Adonis will mean he grows up scrawny and ugly!

Flumplet · 16/08/2017 22:16

Imagine when she starts work and goes for an interview. Imagine!!!

DamnSummerCold · 16/08/2017 22:18

I hope she turns out like Adora Belle Dearheart. GrinGrinGrin

When we were student nurses we used to use the name Melena as a hint to mates that bloke was bother you/us (Melena = black tarry, very very smelly bloody poo), till we found out that one of the patients on our midwifery placement overheard us talking.

As in how was last night? Put it like this he thinks my name is Melena....And started raving about the name, we had to explain what it meant; she thankfully quickly changed her mind; beautiful baby girl called Lena

ConfidentlyUnhinged · 16/08/2017 22:35

I once knew a woman named lasagna (not how it was spelt btw, the spelling was unique). No shortening and she was in her thirties. She was a very steely character- I do wonder whether it was due to the name in the boy called sue style.

elephantoverthehill · 16/08/2017 22:39

Was her first name Bella ConfidentlyUnhinged? Luckily my Fireman Sam days are well gone.

myshinynewusername · 16/08/2017 22:41

When you shoot him, make sure you pick up the shell casing afterwards, so they can't identify the gun used....

Abbylee · 16/08/2017 22:42

I attended early school years with Bambi. We were very jealous of her claim to fame. Idk what happened later. I was named after a child star; hated and still do hate my name, embarrassing when introduced. Show him my Post? Why does baby Belle's mother hate her?

pringlecat · 16/08/2017 23:00

Can you and other sane friends start referring to the baby as Bel and hope it catches on?

NoobThebrave · 16/08/2017 23:15

Poor child 😶... the trouble with using a shortened version is work colleagues/friends may only know you as 'Bella' until they attend your wedding when your full name is used and the whole congregation gasp and then laugh 😂 M of the B was not impressed!!

Fekko · 16/08/2017 23:17

Baby Balle... babybel 😂

Kickedoutnowwhat · 16/08/2017 23:18

No, no, before you shoot, place the gun in a plastic bag and hold the gun from the outside and shoot.

The bag catches the shell casings and the gsr.

one2three4five · 16/08/2017 23:22

YABU, it's a perfectly reasonable name! I assume by new baby you actually meant new puppy?!

Fekko · 16/08/2017 23:23

More if a cat name than a dog I think. Or a fairy.

FreedaDonkey · 16/08/2017 23:29

My favourite ever birth announcement in the Times was Tuppance, a sister to Biggles.

I love that family without knowing them Grin

banannabreadforme · 16/08/2017 23:30

We have a lovely pediatric Indian doctor and she is called Cinderella. Yes really. The first time we met her we sat and stared at her ID tag with her name on.

DorrisGurl · 16/08/2017 23:42

Wow ! With friends like you? - who needs enemies ?- how hateful & ungraceful to behave like this - especially as , as when choosing your children's names yourselves you'd have up against uninvited ungraceful comments. .that hurt your feelings you know first hand how it feels .
If you want to name another child have one or back off-
& actually - who knows how the child will react when older -
For example,
My daughter , who incidently has Tinkerbell as one of her middle names on her birth certificate?

BUT
I Didn't have it on her official records CHOSE to add it in to her titles when she started education - still does & she's high school age.
? -
Hasn't had any issues or encountered folks like you being so rude or vile .
she is more than welcome to ditch it -

Not everything is black & white..
Grow the hell up.

gertiegildergoesbananas · 16/08/2017 23:45

dorris

Why did you use the name tinker belle and then ditch it?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 16/08/2017 23:49

Careful Dorris the op has a gun.
