To not want a vet to operate on me ?

Seriously, this is what my elderly father thinks is the best way forward for me !

I have an injury that my father insists the Supervet could operate on and would cure me. Every single time I see him he mentions it. I have told him to contact him himself and see what he says but he's yet to do it.
AIBU to think that I'm not a bloody chihuahua ?

I'd rather a vet tbh, my pets seem to get far better treatment from the vet than I get from my GP

ineedamoreadultieradult · 13/08/2017 23:33

Just tell him you contacted him and he said no, that should shut him up.

sparechange · 13/08/2017 23:33

I'm pretty sure a vet cannot legally operate on a person...

MeanAger · 13/08/2017 23:34

Erm, I don't think the supervet is licensed to operate on humans! Or are you actually a tech savvy cat?

rememberpurpleronnie · 13/08/2017 23:34

Vet here- no that would he illegal and he would be struck off. Might be a relief for the rest of us in the profession mind!

AtSea1979 · 13/08/2017 23:34

Is this someone on telly?
I think a vet would be a preferred option. They seem to have a much more thorough training if that programme in the 90s was anything to go by.

Vinorosso74 · 13/08/2017 23:35

Grin sorry but that made me laugh. I'm pretty sure a vet wouldn't legally/ethically be able to operate on a human even if you have bright eyes and a glossy mane.

BeakersofNaiceHam · 13/08/2017 23:36

Haha I would let Noel operate on me any day, but I don't think he does this. He does have a charity that is working on using medical research to benefit both animals and humans though.

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 23:37

I don't think so either sparechange. I've told him this but he's having none of it ! He has some really stupid strange ideas, I have a court case ongoing in another country at the moment and because it's taking so long , my dad suggested that I write to the King of the country to hurry it up Confused. It's exhausting talking to him about anything because of his odd ideas !

Tell him the supervet charges thousands for his talents and does he want to pay 10 grand for it as a prezzie.

gamerchick · 13/08/2017 23:37

Unless he's loaded which it may backfire somewhat....

Orangebird69 · 13/08/2017 23:39

Noel could 'operate' on me any time he likes...

Whisky2014 · 13/08/2017 23:40

Well, vets are more impressive since they have to operate on and know the bodies of many different animals. Surgeons only know 1....

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 13/08/2017 23:41

Are you a spaniel with opposable thumbs? Grin Maybe he could operate...

BeakersofNaiceHam · 13/08/2017 23:41

Does he think SV could give you a bionic foot?

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 23:41

Unfortunately my dad would be willing to pay for my vetinary treatment! Not sure I'd fit in one of the recovery cages though Grin

Vinorosso74 · 13/08/2017 23:47

You'd have to wear the "cone of shame"

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 23:49

Cone of shame ! Love it !

BertieBotts · 13/08/2017 23:49

Are your dad's strange ideas a recent change or has he always been like that?

ILoveMillhousesDad · 13/08/2017 23:50

Didn't this happen in Breaking Bad Grin

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 13/08/2017 23:50

I dunno, Supervet is handsome. Could you book a consult? Eye candy if nothing else..?

sparechange · 13/08/2017 23:50

Aren't his treatments just based on human ones though?

I saw one episode where he was talking about having invented this procedure and how he was the only person who could give these poor animals a new lease of life

It then went on to show him doing an operation I had done about 7 years earlier! (By a surgeon, not a vet)

ILoveMillhousesDad · 13/08/2017 23:51

No my mistake. It was the move 'The Fugitive' starring nick nolte and martin short Grin Grin

ILoveMillhousesDad · 13/08/2017 23:52

MeltorPeltor · 13/08/2017 23:53

Clearly your Dad has medical insurance for you and the 'supervet' has said he can almost definitely fix you for 10p under the insurance limit. All through the goodness of his heart and that's because it's what your Dad wants. Even if it's not what you want.

I'm not a fan of the 'supervet'.
