So incredibly over the many, many, many 'bored at home/hanging out with mates/going to such and such places' status's that are accompanied by a posey selfie with any form of filter...(usually animal eyes/ears/nose/mouth etc). The selfie has nothing to do with the status ever and is such a cry for attention. AIBU to find this so annoying that I hide or delete people based on whether they post these sorts of status's online?

It's very much like 'yeh, yeh we get it. You think you're cute. You want some sort of validation that you're cute/pretty etc but you're trying to be discreet about it with your random status post'.

Come on ladies, let's be more original and better than this. 🍉🐑 Anyway. That's the one thing I hate online.

What does everybody else hate?

But I look much prettier as a glassy eyed kitten.

And I'm not even joking.

chipscheeseandcurrysauce · 13/08/2017 20:06

I look prettier with the filter. It smooths my skin out!

StatisticallyChallenged · 13/08/2017 20:08

Nope I'm so with you. Recent one, someone being photographed holding their new baby niece for the first time, complete with fish face expression, and silly animal filter (little pink nose, doe eyes, fluffy ears). Ruining a classic family photo. Can't help but think some folk are going to try and look back at their photos in years to come and not have a single normal one!

CorbynsBumFlannel · 13/08/2017 20:12

The fluffy pig ear ones make me feel sick for some reason. I can't stand them either. A friend of a friend who has (gorgeous) massive eyes without the filter posted one the other day and it scared the shit out of me.

pasturesgreen · 13/08/2017 20:14

YANBU, they make me slightly sick.

Tootsiepops · 13/08/2017 20:16

They are utterly, utterly ridiculous. I'm nearly 40 and have peers who use them. They're not fooling anyone. Really.

Areyoufree · 13/08/2017 20:16

I hate all the unicorn shit. Dye something rainbow colours, and suddenly it's unicorn related. It's getting really boring.

Jessiecat27 · 13/08/2017 20:17

I'm with you! And the parents who use an editing app for their child pictures, some of them it's really obvious, surely you love your children without the need to hide any imperfections?

pud1 · 13/08/2017 20:18

All this filtering drives me mad with or without fluffy ears. We used to complain about magazines airbrushing models. Now we airbrush ourselves. Nothing seems real anymore

Hulababy · 13/08/2017 20:19

Don't think I've seen anyone older than a teen (maybe early 20s perhaps???) use one - but its normally restricted to 15y DD's peer group for me. Id find it strange if my own 40s peer group were suddenly using them

TrojanWhore · 13/08/2017 20:20

I think I look cute with some of the ears. And I'm usually a serious whimsy eschewer. Hate being called a lady too.

Never did get the hang of being consistent.

But have got the have of not giving a stuff about opinions on trivia

Consideringbeingamom · 13/08/2017 20:20

Yes it's ridiculous-childish, narcissistic and utterly pointless!

Shestolethewitchesredshoes · 13/08/2017 20:21

I've mainly seen women aged 20-35 doing it. Daily!

Consideringbeingamom · 13/08/2017 20:22

I've witnessed women in their 30's-50's doing it. Utter tits.

Huffletuff · 13/08/2017 20:22

I'm 35 and I love them. I really couldn't care less what anyone thinks.

CorbynsBumFlannel · 13/08/2017 20:23

And yeah to it being ridiculous putting filters on pics of kids. Someone on my Fb put a pic of her dp and son on that was so airbrushed the dp had no nose!

NancyDonahue · 13/08/2017 20:24

Two of my friends on FB are in their late 40's. They often have the selfies with freaky dead eyes and flowers/butterflies around their heads. I don't get it at all.

AuntieStella · 13/08/2017 20:24

"I've mainly seen women aged 20-35 doing it. Daily!"

So people young enough to be my children, bless

Harmless fad. It'll pass soon

msrisotto · 13/08/2017 20:29

I find them funny

ToothTrauma · 13/08/2017 20:29

camelfinger · 13/08/2017 20:33

It's bizarre if you ask me, it's like saying "this is what I would like if I was
A) Pretty
B) Had pig ears
Which just seems to further highlight the fact that neither A) nor B) are true.

fortifiedwithtea · 13/08/2017 20:44

YANBU I hate filters. Any filters and the worse are the distorted dimorphic face filters.

I tell my 14 yo DD I hate them until I'm blue in the face not a filter that I hate them and she still has to show me the latest Hmm

thatverynightinmaxsroom · 13/08/2017 20:47

I am 100% with you.

NashvilleQueen · 13/08/2017 20:50
