I detest animal filter poser selfies all over the internet.

So incredibly over the many, many, many 'bored at home/hanging out with mates/going to such and such places' status's that are accompanied by a posey selfie with any form of filter...(usually animal eyes/ears/nose/mouth etc). The selfie has nothing to do with the status ever and is such a cry for attention. AIBU to find this so annoying that I hide or delete people based on whether they post these sorts of status's online?

It's very much like 'yeh, yeh we get it. You think you're cute. You want some sort of validation that you're cute/pretty etc but you're trying to be discreet about it with your random status post'.

Come on ladies, let's be more original and better than this. 🍉🐑 Anyway. That's the one thing I hate online.

What does everybody else hate?

Fairly ffs

Littleraincloud · 13/08/2017 20:56

I'm creeped out by them

YourHandInMyHand · 13/08/2017 20:58

I can't bear these either. Make me cringe!

NicolasFlamel · 13/08/2017 21:03

It's cringe worthy when they get a load of comments "Omg gawjus hun" "stunnin babe" and then they're like "Thx hunni!"
You can't genuinely accept the compliment when you don't even look like a smooth skinned, doe eyed teenager in real life!

pictish · 13/08/2017 21:06

Yanbu - I don't know why it annoys me as much as it does...but it fucking does. It seems so pathetic.

Shestolethewitchesredshoes · 13/08/2017 21:11

Yes, I absolutely detest!

And I agree the comments are very cringe worthy. I'm so tempted to tell these women that they look daft!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/08/2017 21:12

Utterly pathetic. Grow up stupid filter people! It'll look like you went straight from 17 to 70 when you finally take the filter off. Confused

C0untDucku1a · 13/08/2017 21:13

Yes! Those animal filters are ridiculous! Women in their 30s all over my fb page! Wtf?!

Nancy91 · 13/08/2017 21:17

Yep, it's cringey, if you want to put a shameless selfie up then go for it, don't write a pointless caption as an excuse! And why put that dog filter on, or that one that people think makes them look pretty but in reality it makes them look creepy. Arghhh

Rainbunny · 13/08/2017 21:19

Yep they're cringeworthy and narcissistic. Most importantly of all they look stupid. Every single one.

calmanban · 13/08/2017 21:21

I saw a great comment on this along the lines of 'when ma burd uses one of thae animal filters and I don't know whether to pat her head or take her to the park fur a shite'

Shestolethewitchesredshoes · 13/08/2017 21:21

It's also the status's though!

'Relaxing at home', 'out with the girls', 'love this song', 'enjoying a cup of tea', 'date night' etc

Ffs why not just post the stupid filter (if you absolutely must!!) along with something like 'Hey, I'm a cat' etc.

Or just post the unfiltered selfie as there is usually always the superficial selfless people falling about themselves complimenting anyone and everyone on absolutely everything anyway. So you're bound to get some sort of validation one way or the other.

They annoy me intensely. I didn't realise for ages why everyone had suddenly started looking much much better in selfies than in real life, and obviously not just as a result of good angles and lighting. I thought it was maybe contouring (another thing I have no clue about but apparently everyone is doing). Then I discovered the 'pretty' filter. It doesn't have the stupid ears, just smooths your skin, makes your eyes slightly bigger, makes your jaw narrower, pronounces your chin and gives you cheekbones. I do look much 'better' in a kylie Jenner sort of way, but I wouldn't want to post a picture that just highlights that I don't look anything near that good in real life. But I don't take or post selfies at all so I don't really get the whole thing, just seems so narcissistic. I get teens doing it, but grown women who post any sort of pointless selfie make me cringe.

SaraWeez13 · 13/08/2017 21:23

I remove people from my friends list for this reason.

One girl I went to school with posted an album titled "Such and Such's wedding". It was literally just her selfies.

She will also post a selfie and put something like "popping to the shops"

Ugh. Fuck. Off.

MistyMinge · 13/08/2017 21:26

I reckon people do it as it's an improved version of themselves, even with the ears, fairies, unicorn horn, monkey tits etc etc.

It uses so many filters.

I make quite an attractive pig Grin

Farfromtheusual · 13/08/2017 21:27

YANBU, they looks absolutely ridiculous! I also hate it when they do it with their kids. SIL constantly does it with DN and always says how much she loves snapchat...she's 3 🙄

PandorasXbox · 13/08/2017 21:29

" love my family " then hundreds of photos of them sat in the park with a picnic in various poses all contrived

I mean it's nice that they're doing it and all that but why put it on FB every single time?

5rivers7hills · 13/08/2017 21:34

But people look so much cuter as lions!

C0untDucku1a · 13/08/2017 21:35

#makingmemories really annoys me too. Sorry to disappoint you but you baby wont remember this at all.

Evilstepmum01 · 13/08/2017 21:38

I loathe with a passion that stupid pretty flower one with big eyes and a crown of flowers.
I feel like typing 'you cant polish a turd, hen' but so far have resisted.

I also did not do the 'ice bucket challenge', the 'no make up challenge', the 'beautiful girls challenge', the 'stunning ladies' bollocks.

I facepalm a lot.

Girty999 · 13/08/2017 21:39

Stick up a selfie and the comment 'tell me I'm pretty' save all the crap lol xx

Evilstepmum01 · 13/08/2017 21:40

Forgot to say the trout pout with the pretty filter is an immediate unfriend from me.

Stay off the fags, doll, you may pull it off.

Girty999 · 13/08/2017 21:40

I also hate food pics and often post my tea (sometimes chopped up crab sticks and beetroot) as a piss take x

giggleshizz · 13/08/2017 21:42

Completely agree. Sorry but I can't take anyone serious when they have donkeys ears and a pigs snouts in their profile picture. Can I also add people who upload 20 pictures where one would suffice e.g "kids in the garden" and then just uploading loads of almost identical pictures instead of just picking the best one. Grinds my gears....

msrisotto · 13/08/2017 21:46

I doubt they put those photos up to be taken seriously. Unless they put it on LinkedIn Grin
