AIBU to think the neigbours shouldn't sit on their drive every evening?

Yes it's theirs they can do what they like etc. But it's really annoying me.

We have perfectly nice back gardens which aren't overlooked but they choose to sit on the driveway of a busyish minor road with their friends.

They sit and drink/talk/sing/laugh loudly until the early hours. It's the noise that's pissing me off, i have started wearing ear plugs, shutting the windows but they still woke me at 2am this morning.

Unfortunately I can't afford to move to an isolated location and normal noise doesn't bother me. AIBU to think this is a bit anti social?

Any suggestions what to do? I'm reluctant to say anything in case it makes it worse.

As common as eating a Greggs pasty in the street.

We have a little bistro table and chairs on our driveway. We're set quite a bit back from the road but it's still at the front. Not sure why that makes us common, it just gets the most sun!

When I moved to a small country town in Oz, I was shocked at the amount of people just sitting on their front porches at night.

Then I realised they wanted a chat. They're sitting there on purpose...being part of things.

No one sits in the front where I live as most people have more than one car on the driveway, although years ago I lived in a street and the same people sat out front day and night till the early hours with their kids shouting and screaming and running amok. I personally don't care where people sit. It's the lack of consideration for everyone else that annoys me.

We've been woken up around midnight 4 times this week with them talking loudly on their driveway, last night they were playing football at 1am kicking it against their house. I got all brave and went round this morning, all ready to politely ask them to keep the noise down so late at night..they didn't answer the door. Dammit.

They were probably still in bed.

Do they not have work to get up for in the morning?

Mysa74 · 24/09/2017 22:20

How are you getting on OP? Has the lack of dry evenings chased your neighbors inside or are they still as antisocial as they were at the beginning of the summer? Hope things have improved for you...

My neighbours here seem to all do it.I think it's a South Asian thing. It doesn't bother me because they don't do it until all hours usually just at end of day to chat with their friends/neighbours. By 8pm, everyone is inside.
