brasty · 12/08/2017 01:00

Of course you are not too old. But clubs will not be like those in the 90s

wildbhoysmama · 12/08/2017 01:04

wee mloving your image! The Arches was pure hedonism and I was a regular Sat night Sub Club girl. I grew up in the place. Those were the days.
Kingfisher exactly: I've never felt thinner, cooler or more free but not for me now: Mum of 3 and very, very happy in my jammies heading off to bed ( late night for me these days!). But I'll nod off with the memories filling my dreams. Smile

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 12/08/2017 01:12

Bagleys (then progressed all of about 20 metres to The Cross), Turnmills, The End, The Fridge, Bedrock @ Heaven - first Thursday of every month (or was it the last?), Sunny Side Up at SWA after. Copious amounts of various class A substances. God, how I miss it. Still occasionally do a night (minus the drugs) - but it 'aint like it used to be.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 12/08/2017 01:17

It won't be the same as it used to be! I'm glad I had trance 97-2000's amazing nights to be remembered not relived! Couldn't imagine popping a pill now.

SweetLuck · 12/08/2017 01:23

Another one still missing it here, am 46. I would go, and wouldn't care about looking old, but I don't have anyone to go with, SADFACE.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/08/2017 01:25

I'm not a 'clubber' clubber but I'd love to go back to the rock clubs of the midlands for a night of dancing.

I adored First Base in Wolverhampton. A proper dive but in an old theatre so the main dance floor was wicked.
Then there was The Cage and The Planet, XLs in Brum and a couple of others I can't remember the names of. I spent many a night in these clubs around 1997 - 1999.

I'd love to feel that free again.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 12/08/2017 01:29

Can I come? I'm a bit of a wet so no E's for me, but can I interest you in a poppa and some White Lightening?

miaows · 12/08/2017 03:08

Loved the 90's and the house scene. Dublin was buzzing then - still is - I'm 42 and still go to the club nights. Would do at least one festival a year also- still love the music and I'm no way the oldest still out on the clubbing scene.

littleredpear · 12/08/2017 07:37

@Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake

Jain Atkins
Kevin Saunderson
Jeff Mills
Derrick Carter

It's a taken on the Beatles ones for people who like Detroit Techno Grin

I'm going to the sub club in a few weeks time now. You lot are a good influence x

littleredpear · 12/08/2017 07:37

Sorry it's May not Carter! Got distracted talking to DH about it x

Laineymc7 · 12/08/2017 07:45

It would never be the same as those days. The state of everyone. No phones no cameras. If you want to and relive your youth. You could always try a weekend in Ibiza. There's no age barrier there.

sleeplessohdear · 12/08/2017 07:54

Don't do drone, raving over 35 is good, kid drugs are rank

BR62Y · 12/08/2017 07:57

Or a weekend in Banus. Ocean Club vibe In the day followed by club at night. Average age is around 35-40 there.

mrszebrastripe · 12/08/2017 08:41

Hey Cuppatea you just listed all of my favourite clubs. Also loved a bit of Babes In Toyland!

YourFace · 12/08/2017 08:54

What's stopping you going?

I'm a scouser - 051 was one of my favourites back then. I'm a Graeme Park type. I still do it occasionally. Am still the best dancer I've ever seen.

IKnewItWasBullshitAllAlong · 12/08/2017 09:23

i've got nobody to go with! DH is a reggae hippy and cannot take the pace! All my friends are sensible now..... i need to form a scouse collective!

RatRolyPoly · 12/08/2017 09:37

TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!

I hear the Berlin club scene is AMAZING.

BramblyHedgeHog · 12/08/2017 09:46

Whoever said "going out for the dancing and the music" yy.

Thats what I miss. I'm not going to do drugs again. I've lost too many friends who did too much. Im not arsed about getting hammered on booze. I just love a big sweaty dance to excellent music in my trainers.

Nineties happy days!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 12/08/2017 09:54

Yanbu but lay off the drugs they are 90% floor cleaner now as apposed to the 3% in our day

MoreProseccoNow · 12/08/2017 10:43

Ah, that takes me back.... I'm 45 & run to my old dance tunes, the music helps me go faster. Wouldn't touch drugs nowadays, with 2 DC.

TanteRose · 12/08/2017 10:52

Just go!
(Leave off the drugs)

I'm 49 and went clubbing last year (in Tokyo, so they don't care how old you are, who you are)

I also go to music festivals regularly - this year was my first three day mud-fest at Fuji Rock.

By myself (DD usually comes to festivals with me but couldn't this year)
It was completely exhausting but absolutely amazing Grin

I was dancing to Aphex Twin in a thunderstorm in the mountains one night and then Bjork the next night.

I don't understand how anyone would cringe at older people out in clubs and festivals - you can't be enjoying yourself that much if you're so aware of everyone else around you.
I just completely lose myself in the music and the atmosphere and don't take any notice of anyone else ConfusedGrin

HipsterHunter · 12/08/2017 10:59

@IKnewItWasBullshitAllAlong

Plenty of EDM raves which are appropriate for 49 year olds. True ravers never stop.

Just buy a ticket and go! Preferably I like day time events - no need to stay up all night and fuck your body clock.

HipsterHunter · 12/08/2017 11:03

Yanbu but lay off the drugs they are 90% floor cleaner now

Actually there has been a resurgence in quality pills from amsterdam after YEARS of not being able to get decent MDMA levels. Talking £10 a pill again after the shit years of dirty ket pills for £2.

TheDowagerCuntess · 12/08/2017 11:09

YANBU!

Well, you are a little bit. It's fab to reminisce, though.

I love a glass of wine of a weekend evening now - hard to believe that back in the day, entire weekends would pass, and not even a drop of alcohol would pass my lips. Wink

If I were to throw MAW, To Be In Love out there, I wonder if there'd be any like-minded souls...

Followed Roger Sanchez up and down the country, every time he came over. Several cities and clubs in one night. Happy days. Happy nights.

wildbhoysmama · 12/08/2017 11:56

I'm reminiscing 90's big style here! Graeme Park, Davie Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Junior Sanchez, Harry. At Sub Club, The Arches, Ministry, The Cross, The Hacienda, Boardwalk, Godskitchen, Bagleys, Creamfields. All in my trainers and usually a tiny, stomach-revealing top of some sort ( my mum tum has flipped in fear!).
God, those were the days: The music, the dancing, the banter, the class As, the inevitable post club party. Ah! ( But that's me erasing the sleeplessness/ slight paranoia/ Tuesday come downs, but what the hell!).
On a side note does anyone remember the name of a legendary club night in an old, country house near Middlesbrough? We were taken by mates we'd met when we worked in Faliraki (!) and it was phenomenal, all these different rooms with different DJs.
