AIBU to want BIL to fuck off home

Argh. I got a BFP this morning.

Dying to tell DH when he got home from work, only for him to arrive with his brother (who works near him) for BIL to pick something up.

Now they have settled down to a session on the XBox and DH has invited him to stay for dinner!

AIBU to be sending subliminal messages to my BIL in the hopes that he remembers some random emergency and buggers off so that I can tell DH?

Congrats!!! Tell your dh to get rid of him, you want to talk about something important!

Farmerswife4life1984 · 11/08/2017 18:05

Just take your dh to one side and tell him x

justkeepswimmingg · 11/08/2017 18:06

Congrats OP!
Could you send him a text saying you need BIL to leave, as you have some news for him? Or would he say 'why you texting me for?' Alerting your BIL of your plan to get rid of him something my sis likes to do.

MumsOnCrack · 11/08/2017 18:08

Keep it to yourself until he's gone! It'll be worth it! I found out I was pregnant when DH was away on the Friday and he didn't come back until Sunday - I told no one until then...congratulations!

MyheartbelongstoG · 11/08/2017 18:09

Just be patient op and congrats Smile

Sunshinegirls · 11/08/2017 18:17

Go and have a bath and enjoy a precious hour with just you and your little tiny baby before anyone else knows. It will be a special time that you will remember forever. Tell DH later. Congrats!

FairfaxAikman · 11/08/2017 18:19

Tbf they don't get much quality time together as BIL works odd hours so I wouldn't begrudge it under normal circumstances.
I also don't trust DH not to start bouncing off the walls when I do tell him.

Love that idea Sunshine! Never thought of it like that

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 11/08/2017 18:20

How many MN members know?

sororitynoise · 11/08/2017 18:26

What are you getting at @stilldrivingmebonkers?

silkpyjamasallday · 11/08/2017 18:32

Congratulations! I second @Sunshinegirls idea, you don't want to tell your DP after you've made him kick his brother out as it may initially annoy him as he won't know why you are insisting BIL leaves. Maybe tell DP you're going for a bath and suggest BIL leaves when you're done so you can have a nice evening together.

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 11/08/2017 18:34

You could use the time while you are waiting to organise a film of your reveal. This is one of my favorite YouTube videos:

Changednamejustincase · 11/08/2017 18:39

Fuck off Fairfax's BIL or tell them both. He'll be the best uncle ever if he feels part of it.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 11/08/2017 18:40

sororitynoise elucidate please

TheScottishPlay · 11/08/2017 18:44

Congratulations Fairfax.
Beautiful post Sunshine.

CaptainHammer · 11/08/2017 18:48

Congratulations!

2017SoFarSoGood · 11/08/2017 19:29

Sunshine you made me tear up with that beautiful post.

Congratulations Fairfax how very exciting. Hold off. Be patient. He'll go eventuallly and then you can tell

cowssheephens · 11/08/2017 20:30

Have you told him OP?

FairfaxAikman · 11/08/2017 20:31

Nope. Despite heavy hints and an offer to drive him home (to avoid a long journey on public transport, of course) he's still here!

OP posts:
cowssheephens · 11/08/2017 20:57

Oh no. Have you thought about how you are going to tell him?

HettySunshine · 11/08/2017 20:58

Congratulations OP!

I know the feeling well, when I got my bfp my dh' nest friend was living with us. He's an awesome guy but I just couldn't wait for him to leave us to it so I could do the big reveal.

Just think you are the only person in the whole of rl who knows you're a mummy to be!

MumsOnCrack · 11/08/2017 21:00

I did this...tiny shoes with the pregnancy test in the box. DH said, "Why have you given me some shoes and a pen?!" Lol

I kinda wish I'd waited to tell DH and planned a special night or something. I just had to blurt it out the second he walked through the door! If you can wait, why not plan a reveal? It's a special moment you'll always remember.

NoPressureNoDiamonds · 11/08/2017 21:05

Congratulations!
I feel for you - I got my BFP 20 mins before DH got home from work. Longest 20 mins of my life. Was DYING to tell him. Just paced from room to room until he got home. I wouldn't be able to keep it in if I was you!

Flybye · 11/08/2017 21:08
