I live alone with my children. I am a single mother. My baby is quite difficult ATM and seems to be cluster feeding so I'm always awake quite late. She finally drifted off about an hour ago so I have been cleaning non stop since. Anyway I've been up and down the stairs putting rubbish out etc. anyway I came back upstairs and my door knocked, this was literally 10 mins ago. Obviously I got quite scared due to how late it is. They knocked about 3 times then left. Didn't knock any other doors. I can't be 100% sure but I thought I heard what sounded like a police radio. Would you have answered?! Wibu? I wanna point out now that a few months ago this same thing happened when I was heavily pregnant. I woke up in the middle of the night went toilet came back and lied in bed and my door knocked, it was roughly the same time. I know no one that would knock, or who would just show up.

but they've said your not in trouble and no ones hurt/dead, that's the two things I'd be most scared about hearing. It will be ok OP Flowers

Did they give you a time to expect them?

wtffgs · 07/08/2017 02:44

Brew Hope it's all resolved soon.

Starsandwishes · 07/08/2017 02:45

Maybe they saw you taking your rubbish out. And thought maybe you may have witnessed something. Maybe someone used you as an alibi?

Hope your okay

TheMaddHugger · 07/08/2017 02:56

(((((((((((Hugs))))))))))) Flowers i hope everything is ok

WiganPierre · 07/08/2017 02:56

Hope you're okay. Try not to worry.

Dancingfairy · 07/08/2017 03:05

Sorry I'm back. Police still not here. They said it involves me but I'm not in trouble! I haven't committed any crimes, Confused. Just been on the phone to my friend.

Then they really had no reason to frighten the OP at midnight.

Counterpane · 07/08/2017 03:09

Could your violent Ex be in trouble?

He might have given your address or, if it is likely to be in the local news, they may want to tell you before you read it in the papers.

GunslingerPie · 07/08/2017 03:10

Hope you're ok OP

thebigbluedustbin · 07/08/2017 03:20

My suspicion is that someone you are related to or are close to has been arrested for a crime and the police wish to inform you so as the information can be released to the press.

Rosie7978 · 07/08/2017 03:24

My thoughts exactly, why not wait until daytime to knock on your door. Bit inconsiderate if you ask me. Tell them you've been up all night worrying what it could be.

GreeboIsACutePussPuss · 07/08/2017 03:27

Well no, hopefully it's just some police officer that hasn't thought about the effect late night knocks have on people, which is annoying but a lot better than it being someone knocking with bad news/OP being in some sort of trouble.

Rosie7978 · 07/08/2017 03:31

This is very strange that they haven't contacted you until now. I would ask them about this.

hurdygurdy81 · 07/08/2017 03:37

Hi hope you are ok and this is resolved soon Flowers

Escargot82 · 07/08/2017 03:38

Perhaps neighbours called the police to complain about noise?

Dancinginthemidnight · 07/08/2017 03:39

Hope they turn up soon and let you know what's happening. Try not to worry.

Albertschair · 07/08/2017 03:49

Hopefully it is something simple. And they saw your lights on/ you going in and out so had no worries about waking you.

Although if anyone knocks on my door past about 7pm I get a bit freaked out.

Main thing is as they say. Noone has died.

PumpernickleInaWarehouse · 07/08/2017 03:52

All ok op?

SonicBoomBoom · 07/08/2017 03:54

I agree that, while it is of course great that nobody is injured/dead, they should not be knocking on a woman's door at that time of night.

I know London is a 24 hour city, but come on!

Scrumptiousbears · 07/08/2017 03:58

Did they say when they were coming back?

Nurse15 · 07/08/2017 04:03

Horrible situation OP hope they don't keep you waiting too long x

TheLegendOfBeans · 07/08/2017 04:06

Fucking hell OP my guts are bunched for you x

Dancingfairy · 07/08/2017 04:24

Wow well thank you all for your comments and thinking about me. It means alot as I'm here alone so it's nice to have people to talk to. Well I can't believe I am coming back with this update. Whoever said it was my ex was right!.. My ex has mental health issues, I knew this. Infact it's why we broke up as he was a paranoid scitzophenic and accused me of many things I didn't do. He actually ended it with me becAuse of his beliefs. Well, he has told his key worker, that he has a "hit list" and I'm on it. So the police wanted to warn me. There is a warrant out for his arrested but they are unable to find him. Which scares me a he literally has no where to go. I'm not the only one he turned on, he turned on everyone so he has no one and nowhere to go. But he turned on me the most. I guess closest person to him. So that's it. Now I really am scared. I was indoors the other day upstairs bathing the baby when I heard my son downstairs say "daddies here" I froze again but then realised I was being silly, and nothing more happened he just came upstairs an I didn't mention it (he asks after his dad alot.) so they basically wanted to warn me and ask if he has contacted me and they are going to make sure police attend my property immediately if he does show up.

Bloody hell OP.
Do you have family you could stay with?
I would seriously consider moving, but I'm not as adverse to moving house as most people are.

anchor9 · 07/08/2017 04:29
