To be annoyed at council waiting times

My council has a 3 week wait for all repairs. The light in my bathroom has gone, it's not a standar bulb so someone from the council has to come to sort it. I have to wait 3 weeks! So I cannot use my bathroom after a certain time, I usually bath my children before bed but won't be able to for 3 weeks. Aibu to think it should be sorted sooner?

Is this the fitting OP?

I don't have a clue how to change mine, I can't physically anyway

I'm not allowed to touch it even if I could

There is a thread on this board about Boots overcharging for the morning after Pill.

Superdrug sell it much cheaper.

Yet no one is saying that Superdrug are subsidizing women by selling it cheaper.

If Boots or anyone else had come out with that how would it have gone down?!!!

Floggingmolly · 03/08/2017 21:10

Do people choose to pay the higher rate at Boots? Because technically, the market value of an item is whatever someone is prepared to pay for it, and selling below that value (for whatever reason) is subsidising the product.
They're foregoing a portion of potential profit = subsidy. A little off topic, though??

HelenaDove · 03/08/2017 21:10

Beebee did you read any of my links.

Its not as simple as that.

LonelyGir1 · 03/08/2017 21:13

So...what did the OP do?

colinthecaterpillars · 03/08/2017 21:27

I have the same bulb as that and I buy mine in a hardware shop.Smilehope this helps

ClopySow · 03/08/2017 21:34

Bollocks. Prepared to pay for it? Nobody wants to pay market value. There is no choice. Capitalism is fucked up.

Floggingmolly · 03/08/2017 21:36

Bollocks? It's the way the world works, whether you like it or not.

@Dancingfairy A friend has advised that if there is a faulty light in a bathroom with no window, it is a priority 1 job; especially where if the household has vulnerable/young children. This is because it is a health and safety risk ( unseen water puddle on floor causing a serious fall etc)

Maybe this is just applicable to her HA and not generic across all social housing but the reasoning for the priority makes a lot of sense to me and I would query this H&S issue further this with your council.

I know your light isn't faulty but as PPs have pointed out, if it is the responsibility of your landlord (outlined in your tenancy) then the blown bulb should only be changed via the the same repair process you would use if it were faulty.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 03/08/2017 22:42

You will probably get reported for being too aggressive, Clopy.

Directly calling someone a twat is aggressive behaviour.

ChasingHighs · 03/08/2017 22:44

I expect you are chief reporter, WhatToDo.

While you get away with posting hateful posts all over MN.
