CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

Delurking to give you the Palatine, Germany.

Scones with butter and jam here, clotted cream a bit hard to track down.

cream tea here comprises : Tesco Finest cherry scones sliced in two, each half then has a smear of butter, a spread of blackcurrant jam and a good dollop of Tesco Finest Clotted Cream. Jam and cream are dished out with a spoon and the back of the spoon gently spreads the deliciousness across the scone. Accompanied by a generous mug of fresh brewed coffee. Than good news for Tesco and their Finest range otherwise I'd go years without a cream tea.

Bienchen · 03/08/2017 19:16

oops you had that one already, so let's narrow it down to the Southern Wine Road

Bienchen You can't be that far from me if that's anywhere near NW.

Meanwhile, our 5 protagonists discuss team tactics in OP's kitchen.

SpanGran beaming as she dispenses generous measures of practice-run Sangria...she has 'plans' of her own for tomorrow's Planners.

Just catching up!

Waves to fellow East Sussex ladies!

For those unfamiliar with the Sussex by the Sea song:

1st verse
Now is the time for marching, Now let your hearts be gay,
Hark to the merry bugles Sounding along our way.
So let your voices ring, my boys, And take the time from me,
And I’ll sing you a song as we march along,
Of Sussex by the Sea!

Chorus
For We're the men from Sussex, Sussex by the Sea.
We plough and sow and reap and mow,
And useful men are we;
And when you go to Sussex, Whoever you may be,
You may tell them all that we stand or fall
For Sussex by the Sea!

Refrain
Oh Sussex, Sussex by the Sea!
Good old Sussex by the Sea!
You may tell them all we stand or fall,
For Sussex by the Sea.

2nd verse
Up in the morning early, Start at the break of day;
March till the evening shadows Tell us it's time to stay.
We're always moving on, my boys, So take the time from me,
And sing this song as we march along,
Of Sussex by the Sea.

Chorus & Refrain

3rd verse
Sometimes your feet are weary, Sometimes the way is long,
Sometimes the day is dreary, Sometimes the world goes wrong;
But if you let your voices ring, Your care will fly away,
So we'll sing a song as we march along,
Of Sussex by the Sea.

Chorus & Refrain

4th verse
Light is the love of a soldier, That's what the ladies say -
Lightly he goes a wooing, Lightly he rides away.
In love and war we always are As fair as fair can be,
And a soldier boy is the ladies’ joy
In Sussex by the Sea.

Chorus & Refrain

5th verse
Far o'er the seas we wander, Wide thro’ the world we roam;
Far from the kind hearts yonder, Far from our dear old home;
But ne'er shall we forget, my boys, And true we'll ever be
To the girls so kind that we left behind
In Sussex by the Sea.

Chorus & Refrain

Home made jam in possible.... otherwise a locally sourced Jam!

And decent tea, made with leaves not a bag, served in a china cup/mug :)

gettingbacktoresearch · 03/08/2017 20:34

And while we are on the subject of food... Pastys are from Devon not Cornwall...

Well fuck me you lot can chat! I just had a heart stopping moment when I couldn't find thread #9 thank fuck for the genius that is trello.

I must confess to a super quick scroll for Whattyyy's updates tonight with the main exception being @SchadenfreudePersonified's Kremlin updates which have actually made me snort my wine 🤣 I know it's only Thursday but I started a new job yesterday and need the downtime.

Portland (Dorset not Maine) based now btw in case anyone fancies digging out a flag 😂

@InvisibleLlama that doesn't look anything like a Great Bustard !!

Us Llamas (and Alpacas and Vicunas) have to stick together. Talking of which I think I spotted AlpacaPicnic upthread?

AlpacaLypse · 03/08/2017 21:04

Also @SchadenfreudePersonified you deserve a gig for Radio 4 comedy slot. When you get it (note my positive thinking here) could you please let us all know? Because you deserve it. And we'll all write very complimentary nice things all over the website so you get a second series.

WhatIsThisWatt · 03/08/2017 21:08

Grin haha loving your posts everyone. How many flags are on this thread 😂

No sign of anything today, I'm hoping for a call from planning in the morning to give me an arrival time.

Long time lurker, first time posting on this thread (thought I'd lost it and was a bit worried).
Good luck for tomorrow Watty, from Wiltshire. I'm sure the planners will be the voice of reason and this will be sorted soon.

Hope t goes well tomorrow Wattyy. Do ask them if they have any objections to cable ties.

MrsHathaway · 03/08/2017 21:27

Delurking after nine threads to plug jam spoons. Little kink in them to hook on to the jar so the handle doesn't get sticky. Spoon jam on to then spread with knife which goes nowhere near jar.

I got my first years ago as a gift, packaged with naice jam. Last Christmas I requested two more because the DC always plaster one in chocolate spread which came from Amazon. Also spotted this week in Vincent Davies.
