Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

Wonder if SpanGran likes a cream tea...

Indeed, has she ever had one?

What say OP asks her to try scones both ways and gives us her objective views?

How's she doing, Freudian?

GaspodeWonderCat · 03/08/2017 12:06

I need to know the history of the flags (puts tinfoil hat back on) so I had to go and look. So just for you I found the history of the Rhineland Palatinate flag coat of arms thingymyji:
The coat of arms, an integral part of the state flag, symbolises the three predominant powers in the region before the French Revolution of the late 18th century:

the red cross on silver represents the Archbishop and prince-elector (Kurfürst) of Trier
the silver wheel on red (Wheel of Mainz) represents the Archbishop and prince-elector of Mainz
the crowned golden lion on black represents the prince-elector of the Palatinate
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Rhineland-Palatinate
We have Scrumpy Cider in Somerset - far better than Devon scones

Madd, can I recommend caution with removal of the cone of shame? I have had a dog that had stitches removed and then managed to undo the done-up skin... not a good idea!

Braeburns · 03/08/2017 12:08

Flag from my hometown in NZ - off to bed now but looking forward to more updates!

Freudian,

Oh bless her, she sounds so diligent! Hard for you to have to curb that instinct for now, as you say. Hope her progress continues well.

FunSizedNinja · 03/08/2017 12:28

All I can think from this thread is the big bang theory " Sheldon Cooper's Fun with Flags" 😂 we should have a MN version!

Fiderer · 03/08/2017 12:32

Gaspode Thanks for that. Have also just looked it up & learned that the crowns are also meant to be vine leaves. So I wasn't wrong about the wine Grin

Where I am it's considered acceptable to have a Weinschorle at 11am. 'Pint' glass, 50/50 wine/sparkling water though sometimes the ratios vary Wink

There's no self-raising flour here & all my expat friends agree it's impossible to make decent scones with the alternatives.

madja · 03/08/2017 12:33

Just a quick hello whilst I catch up. Can't believe I missed so much!(I was in hospital, I tore the ligament in my knee) At least I now have something to read whilst recouperating Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 12:35

Blank - that is the most fearsome Battlehedgehog I have ever seen - my blood ran cold!

(And I luffs a black and midnight cat . . . )

PattyPenguin · 03/08/2017 12:36

I could use a Weissweinschorle, if it weren't for the fact that the weather in South Wales seems to call for a glühwein.

GingerBeerDrinker · 03/08/2017 12:37

Waves to @StormTreader from an overcast Bridgwater. Since Somerset, and indeed Bridgwater are both represented, may I present the flag of County Durham, the place of my birth and childhood. Hopefully image will work...
wattyy I've been following your saga for days, and would love an exciting update tomorrow followed by a speedy restoration of the wall.
Also wouldn't refuse paella or sangria recipes.
