CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

We need to see if we can get all of these flags, I see a few I've noticed here already, someone want to do a check list? Grin

Oh, and mine is number five. Not many of the locals seem to like it.

Ahem. It seems my brain scrambled at Google presenting me with Lizardy Creature vs Elephant, for Oxford's heraldry.

Further research tells me that's apparently the Oxford Council coat of arms (fill in your own jokes)...Oxford County coat of arms is this one.

Which is less entertaining, but more like our modern, familiar flag logo.

And "Godzilla" is, in fact, a green beaver to an ancient councillor on hallucinogens, presumably
(Swear I'm not making this up. See pic 3, from Council Chambers' wall; elephant clearly off his head as well...).

Apologies, Cedilla. Btw, am loving your flag captions on the Trello Smile

@TheMaddHugger what is that cheesecake??? I must have it. Preferably right now!

beachygirl · 03/08/2017 09:55

@gingergenius. Not the best photo, is it? Parsley is fine, as is lime mayo. Sometimes we have it on a plate and use cutlery.

Ooh lime mayo sounds delish!

Ellie56 · 03/08/2017 09:58

I like the sound of home made ice cream that people come for from miles around Jux. Where is that shop - somewhere in Devon?

NewDaddie · 03/08/2017 09:59

@gingergenius

I doubted your genius.

I was wrong.

I also thought it was a good idea to have a cheeky read on MN while I had my mid morning coffee break and just spat half a mouthful over my desk. You just made my day.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 10:04

Thank you for this link Bloo . ("Campest stag" hahahahaha). We in Tye and Wear are number 7 - I looked for a flag for us, but couldn't find one (and wouldn't have known how to post it if I had . . . ).

There really are some corkers on there, but the winner deserves their accolade.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 03/08/2017 10:04

Aaand, I cocked up again...this is off-its-tits elephant; pic 3 above is evil-red-eyes-elephant.

No more bloody Oxford posts.
Over and out.

Marilyn - I enbiggened your original flag and sussed it was a beaver (the traditional Valentine Day meal), but I like Godzilla better.

I bet your council meetings don't last long, though, with an enraged pachyderm and a rabid giant rodent looming over them.

BlooBagoo · 03/08/2017 10:09

Glad to have been of service @SchadenfreudePersonified

Rather says it all when I google for our flag and that's one of the top hits instead. And I fully agree about the winner. Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 10:11

Patty

I thought that flag just meant that Glamorgan had the role of Sergeant amongthevarious counties. A flag of authority over there, as it were.

From Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate. Not sure what the brightly manicured & pedicured lion is there for. He looks a bit manic. Cba to read through the historical references.

Not sure if there's a motto but if I had to assign one, it'd be "Here Be Wine" That could be why the lion looks like he does.

TheMaddHugger · 03/08/2017 10:20

@EmmaJR1 which one ?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 10:24

Just googled Tyne and Wear flag thanks Bloo* and it's only THREE QUID for a 5' x 3' flag! What a bargain! Free delivery, too!

I need to buy it quickly because apparently there's only one left (though I suspect that they only made one, and it has been on the shelf for about five years, waiting for some mug a buyer.

The Gateshead Council coat of arms is quite impressive, with, and I quote:

"The Coat of arms of Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, the local government authority for the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead, in Tyne and Wear, England. The blazon is:
ARMS: Or a Chief Azure overall five Pallets counterchanged.
CREST: Issuant from a Mural Crown Azure a Circular Blade of a Plough proper dimidiating an Annulet embattled on the outer edge Or containing two Fusils conjoined palewise Sable; Mantled Azure doubled Or.
SUPPORTERS: On the dexter side a Horse Sable unguled and maned Or supporting a Length of Rail Argent and on the sinister side a Male Griffin Sable armed and membered Or holding in the sinister foreclaw a Thunderbolt Or."

Before you ask - no, I don't know what a Fusil is. And the Griffon has knives sticking out of it.

The motto is "IN UNITY, PROGRESS" which explains why we're still in the Dark Ages here as the bloody council members can't even agree on the biscuits for the meetings, let alone anything else.

Three Galgo Espanol guard dogs to support SpanGran. Good for cuddles and looking fierce. Not so good for actually being fierce.

Flag of Berkshire.

"Berkshire born, Berkshire bred. Strong in the arm and thick in the head".
