My Dad was relatively well known in his sport, he has retired now, he's not a household name but famous enough that people into the sport would know him. A few years back Dad was involved in a fundraising thing for a local group and was really surprised when the organisers asked if he'd open the event and sign a picture for them to raffle off because 'who would want that?' he'd only signed up coz my DS was involved in the group and Dad was offering to help set up/put things away.

I've told this story on here before but I used to go out with a footballer. I was never in the photos with him on nights out or matches as I'm not the typical "wag" type but once one paper put me in as his PA when we were seen leaving a restaurant together laughing.

I was a massive fan of his team and we got talking when he stood on my foot and I pretended not to know who he was and it carried on until I had to confess! We went out for quite a while but he had to move away and the long distance thing didn't work. We do still talk now and then. He saw my dad a few months ago randomly and called me to tell me.

His wife is on here though and last time sent me a message to say hi. Hope she sees this as she did name change
