WhatIsThisWatt · 31/07/2017 17:43

Hi guys! Wow I've just had a chance to come back on and noticed the last thread is full already?!

There also seems to be loads of people saying they're over it and don't believe me. That's fine, I'm not going to get into an argument with anyone. I had no idea that I would get so many responses when I initially asked for advice on this situation, however, they have really cheered me up through what has been a really crappy few days at points. Thanks all.

Sorry if ive pissed people off.

Anyway my Grandma has landed at the airport and should be with me in a couple of hours. It's not even that far away (she likes to take her time) Grin

And I'd also contact the planners and let them know this is happening. They will know all the tricks.

minxlynx · 01/08/2017 20:30

Gumtree (I don't know if they have houses for sale on there)

gingergenius · 01/08/2017 20:31

OMG what a fucking nightmare OP. POORyoung couple but bloody hell they dodged a bullet there!

WhatIsThisWatt · 01/08/2017 20:32

Housemum good point actually, NNDN did say looking to buy but he maybe just presumed that? They might've just said "moving" I don't know what to do, this is ridiculous. Confused

Spookle! That was amazing! especially since that's the only tune I know!

faithinthesound · 01/08/2017 20:33

@Engol Well gee, I guess we all better stop having fun then. Wouldn't want to take any more of your valuable time that you could be spending taking candy from babies and stealing Christmas (!)

MrsJ1205 · 01/08/2017 20:34

Local Facebook pages? Gumtree? I've seen houses advertised on both to avoid estate agents fees. Check Ken hasn't got a notice in his window - we'd feel so betrayed if it was! Wine

RTKangaMummy · 01/08/2017 20:34

Zoopla and rightmove and another one that I can't remember name of atm covers all the regular advertised ones

But purple bricks might not use them I expect they do though

Do search in postcode and put ALERTS set to daily so you get email when homes in your postcode are put up

WhatIsThisWatt · 01/08/2017 20:35

Are any police officers/ solicitors still on the thread? I know there were a few of you on the previous ones?

Any insight into what this may be or what I should do would be hugely appreciated right now.

OP posts:
gingergenius · 01/08/2017 20:36

@Engol that was unnecessarily nasty. You may think it's drivel. The OP DOESN'T. And it's HER thread and HER story. I think you should name change to Grinch. Or Scrooge.

Liongirls · 01/08/2017 20:37

I think you should definitely put a sign up saying private property and informing of the illegal building works currently with planning to prosecute and ensure damage made good in accordance with grade ? (2) listing

That way any potential buyers/renters will know HUGE issues

But perhaps one day f the Police/Solicitor posters can advise if Watty is allowed to do that

BoneyBackJefferson · 01/08/2017 20:38

How can a (many) thread(s) go off topic so wildly whilst remaining on topic?

So it sounds like its dodgy developers hoping for a quick sale by selling it "with garden". Absolutely stunned.

Vango · 01/08/2017 20:39

Take comfort from the fact that there's no way a mortgage woulde approved as the search would surely show up the planning office involvement.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 01/08/2017 20:39

Are we sure that the young couple aren't just an over enthusiastic pair of MNters gone rogue?

gingergenius · 01/08/2017 20:39

Yes. A definite sign in your garden, with reference to the fact that the garden belongs you your flat, and that illegal building work has taken place. This will undoubtedly put off prospective buyers.

RTKangaMummy · 01/08/2017 20:40

Yes deffo put a huge sign up in your garden saying it is yours and the doors are illegal and planning dept are investigating

In really huge writing so even if the glance out it is read easily

Are there other Windows that look over your garden?

If so put huge posters outside them too

Put things thru letter box in huge writing too so that when they are shown inside the CFN or CFB might go in at same time and not be able to pick up quickly enough

nonfatnofoamlatte · 01/08/2017 20:40

I second Liongirls post. Put up a sign on/by the front door and on the illegal door. Email Planning and your solicitor to let them know what's going on.

Good luck!

WhatIsThisWatt · 01/08/2017 20:41

Good point vango

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 01/08/2017 20:41

OP
If you think that they are going to sell the flat/put it up for rent then you need to go into your estate agents and put yourself to be contacted if anything comes up in the area to rent or buy. That way you'll get emails when new stuff comes on the market.

Rightmove and searching your local listings are probably the best places to look

WhatIsThisWatt · 01/08/2017 20:44

peppa I've looked everywhere tonight (online) and there's nothing!! I'm totally amiss as to what's happening or what to do Sad

THE KREMLIN
RUSSIA

"What is that stuff? Smells like Chechen brothel"

"Is Pledge - is good for wood"

"That bastard Krushchev. This was good table! Are our Cheeky Fucker guests here yet?"

"Not yet. Yefim Konstantinovich has sent two of best agents. They have cover story - young couple buy flat, ask details 'Is there garden?' 'What are schools?' 'Where bus stop?' 'Where Tesco?'. Get trust. then - BOOM! In van, wrap in gorilla tape (maybe some in garden) on plane, then here."

"Not even stop for paella. Hahahahaha"

"Hahahahaha"

Look forward to new wall art. Hahahaha"

"Hahahaha"

"Okay! Keep me update! And Vanka?"

"Da?"

"Nice pinny"

Liongirls · 01/08/2017 20:48

Watty try not to stress too much tonight, there is nothing you or anyone else (I.e. Potential buyers/renters) can do tonight.

Contact your solicitor first thing in the morning and I'd also email the planning lady tonight

Big hugs to you and SpanGran

OMGtwins · 01/08/2017 20:48

Watty, feel free to PM me if you'd like someone to help with searches. I did some similar searches to find out info about my house seller when we bought, found quite a bit of info starting only from the address ;)

clairethewitch70 · 01/08/2017 20:52

Do you know the previous owner of the flat? Are you still in touch? Could you ask them who they sold too?

Lorddenning1 · 01/08/2017 20:52

Hi Watty

I don't think there is anything you can do at the moment, your doing all the things I would of done already, I would give your solicitor a ring tomorrow and let them know what's going on, I did study land law/property law at uni but I must admit, this situation has never cropped up in my studies. I really like the sign in the garden idea but the builders/sellers would try and open the doors and take it down, other than cable ties can you ensure they cannot get in your garden, in the meantime everyone's suggestion of checking the web is a good idea, the fact you can't find anything suggest to me that the 2 people are lying, could it be they are going to try and act like they are buying it now, move in and claim they knew nothing about it.
