CFN SpanGran has landed thread #8

WhatIsThisWatt · 31/07/2017 17:43

Hi guys! Wow I've just had a chance to come back on and noticed the last thread is full already?!

There also seems to be loads of people saying they're over it and don't believe me. That's fine, I'm not going to get into an argument with anyone. I had no idea that I would get so many responses when I initially asked for advice on this situation, however, they have really cheered me up through what has been a really crappy few days at points. Thanks all.

Sorry if ive pissed people off.

Anyway my Grandma has landed at the airport and should be with me in a couple of hours. It's not even that far away (she likes to take her time) Grin

@beesie that should be a Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 22:03

If you sold those tee-shirts to fund Wattyyyy - I wonder how many we'd see as we strolled casually around Tesco etc - or lay on the beach in some exotic holiday destination.

We could look at fellow wearers and just give a slight nod of recognition - that's all we would need . . .

Who am I kidding? We'd go BANANAS with each other - cheering, singing, shouting poetry, doing hakkas, swapping pie recipes, discussing the best way to clean a paella pan (lick it out), sharing garden gnome pictures and slapping Spiderman's arse! It would be BRILLIANT!

This thread crosses all cultures and laughs in the face of language barriers. I bet Vladimir Putin is sitting there now with a cup of Ovaltine and a custard cream and shouting "Vanka - guess what is now? Watty's babushka is arrived at last and is getting bladdered at airport." and Vanka shouts back "Well, I hope she doesn't get too bladdered and lose paella pan. Maybe we should send her some beetroot vodka?" "Good idea, Vanka - Oh look! Doors are blocked with bench! And so many piss-faced gnomes - is like meeting of Politburo! Hahahahahaha!" "Hahahahaha".

This thread could End All Wars . . .

@QueenieGoldstein Yes it is!

Although I tagged it The Arrival of Abuela just immediately after the anthems.

However that possibly could cause confusion with a different famous piece of music. Now imagining the chorus singing Y Viva Espana to the tune of The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

I'll retag the title Grin

faithinthesound · 31/07/2017 22:06

Maybe the Obamas are reading this! I can see Barack sitting at his computer yelling "Michelle! There's an update!"

Well, what's he doing now that he's not president that could be more important than this?

MrsMozart · 31/07/2017 22:06

SchadenfreudePersonified that had me snorting "don't get too bladdered and lose the paella pan" GrinGrinGrin

faithinthesound · 31/07/2017 22:07

I'm screaming at your Putin impression though. Funnier than your Spanky-Wee translation even!

iMogster · 31/07/2017 22:07

Good night, see you in #9

Vango · 31/07/2017 22:08

CircleofWillis I totally love that! Sounds very plausible. C8 is going to have to add 'the Friend' to the list of suspects Grin.

alibongo5 · 31/07/2017 22:09

@faithinthesound - there are t-shirt design websites in UK too - I used one last year to design myself a Bruce Springsteen t-shirt as I didn't like the ones I could buy and wanted an original one. Here are a couple -

DevilsDumplings · 31/07/2017 22:09

I believe you Watt. You've been very dignified in a difficult situation that would push most people over the edge.

Why don't the nay sayers go away if they think it's untrue. Leave us lot to indulge our weakness for supporting Watt.

Tootiredtosleepnow · 31/07/2017 22:10

Oh my the Spanish translations are absolutely brilliant!
I can't believe it's reached thread number 8, not complaining though as they have kept me entertained the last few days at work. OP I hope you're having a great time catching up with your grandma.
I'm following from Ibiza by the way

gingergenius · 31/07/2017 22:11

@SchadenfreudePersonified that's exactly what I thought re: tee-shirt recognition!!!

Jg1 · 31/07/2017 22:11

Interesting, Circle. Verrryyyy interesting.....Hmm I'm going to need some time to go back over DTB's part in this.

It would seem that everyone is a suspect CFN.......

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 22:11

CircleofWillis

Hell's bells!

It's so obvious - how could we have been so blind?

QueenieGoldstein · 31/07/2017 22:11

Found it Grin

gingergenius · 31/07/2017 22:13

@CircleofWillis omg what a brilliant storyline!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 22:15

As a Very Famous And Not At All FictionalDetective once said:

"I suspect everyone; and I suspect no-one."

And he was an Officer of the Ler, so he should know.

MissFitton · 31/07/2017 22:17

It's not great but...

O for a thread of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of active convos,
A garden for a stage, builders to act
And Whatisthiswatt to behold the new crap doors!
Then should the warlike Whatty, like herself,
Assume the port of Mars; and at her heels,
Leash'd in like hounds, should SpanGran, friend and Ken
Crouch for employment. But pardon, and gentles all,
The flat unraised spirits that have dared
On this unworthy scaffold to bring forth
the original window: can this cockpit hold
The vasty fields of Whats back garden? or may we cram
Within this wooden O the very fags
That did affright the grass at Mablethorpe?
O, pardon! since a crooked figure may
put doors in where they shouldn’t;
And let us, vipers to this great accompt,
On your imaginary forces work.
Suppose within the girdle of these walls
Are now confined two mighty gnomes,
Whose high upreared and abutting benches
The perilous narrow garden parts asunder:
Piece out our imperfections with your thoughts;
Into a thousand parts divide on trello,
And make imaginary parodies of popular songs;
Think when we talk of builders, that you see them
Printing their illegal workmanship i' the next doors wall;
For 'tis your thoughts that now must deck our Ken,
Carry him here and there; jumping o'er the road,
Turning the accomplishment of much spying
Into a wine-glass: for the which supply,
Admit me MNer to this history;
Who prologue-like your humble patience pray,
Gently to hear, kindly to judge, our ongoing planning issue...

BoffinMum · 31/07/2017 22:18

Apocalypse

Literally crying with laughter in a very disappointing hotel room. It's cheered me up no end.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/07/2017 22:23

BoffinMum

We ended up in a shithole in Malta once - we made them move us but had to spend a night in a room that looked as though someone had chucked a grenade into it - curtains torn and hanging off the rail, beds not changed (yeauch), hot and cold running cockroaches. DH and I sat up all night with the light on to keep the filthy things off the kids.

(Of course, Wattyyyy's builders could have been the guests in there before us . . . )

user1471548375 · 31/07/2017 22:24

I can't help feeling your grass must be special... but do warn the CFN's that's it's not always greener. Wink

And I can't get of my head..... Confused
