To think that MN should not post personal threads on Facebook?

Yes I know, it is a public forum. I know things can be lifted from here by the daily mail. But it feels like a betrayal when MN lift personal threads by potentially vulnerable posters, where they can be viewed by a wider and less sympathetic audience. This has happened to me and thankfully I'm not vulnerable and I can take it. But this really isn't in the ethos of this site to take a personal post and expose it to a wider audience like this. I think it'll stop people sharing on here when they need support.

As far as I was aware MN's only post on facebook those threads in AIBU, which if you are feeling vulnerable is not the place to be posting anyway.

I have found that a lot of the knowledgable people stick to the boards they know most about, so it depends if you want quantity or quality replies.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 01/08/2017 17:55

That is useful to know.

Fuck the haters. If people feel the need to say unkind things to or about a total stranger it says more about them than you. Hope you feel better soon OP.

Flowers Could you report this thread and ask MNHQ to remove the FB thread, as it has really upset you. I don't think they would leave it there if they knew how you felt.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 01/08/2017 18:32

I have done. No reply yet.

I hope they do take it down. Some of those comments are downright awful. Seems unfair that MN will delete comments and remind people of talk guidelines on here, but then repost stuff elsewhere and let any kind of comment stand. Maybe they need a bit more moderation on their FB page if they're going to repost stuff from AIBU.

Yeah, but you have to like the page, it wouldn't just randomly pop up

Not necessarily. If someone on your friends list likes/comments on a post, then it can pop up on your newsfeed, even if you're not a fan of the original page.

Hi OP,

We're so sorry that you've been upset by this - if you ever have any problems, please do get in touch with us at: [email protected] or by reporting to us and we will do what we can to help.

We do share threads on facebook that we think will resonate; but you're right - we clearly missed the mark here and we shouldn't have shared this. We look at each thread we share very carefully (though obviously we made the wrong call in this case) and try, where possible, not to share threads that are too sensitive.

We've removed the post from facebook now.

If you want to chat about this further - just drop us a line and we will happily talk things through. Flowers

Yeah, but you have to like the page, it wouldn't just randomly pop up

Not necessarily true. Say if you didn't follow the MN Facebook page but your friend did and commented on a post on there, it would appear in your newsfeed as "blahblahfriend commented on this post" and you'd be able to see it that way.

Hudson10 · 04/08/2017 15:10

Just seen I've been beaten to it by caffeine! Blush

DisreputabIeDog · 04/08/2017 15:25

Erm...the threads still on the Facebook page Confused

DisreputabIeDog · 04/08/2017 15:26

That's the post you're talking about, right?

To think that MN should not post personal threads on Facebook?
Farontothemaddingcrowd · 04/08/2017 16:59

Yes it is. That's really not on mumsnet.

So sorry about this, OP.

There was a mix-up our end, and we thought it had been removed. We've definitely taken this down now, and hope this hasn't caused any further upset. Thanks disreputabledog for flagging!

Any more problems at all, please do let us know by reporting and we will do what we can to help. Flowers
