My money is on the CFNs being developers or buy to let landlords who are not living there.

Hello, planner here again. I am member of mumsnet by the way.

If the CFNs are developing to sell on then the works carried out without Listed Building Consent will become the problem of the new owner. As I said before it is a criminal act to carry out alterations either inside or to the elevation of a listed building with Listed Building Consent. Those carrying out this work could be fined heavily and could be asked to reinstate the building to its original state. If they have ignored the STOP notice they are on dodgy ground. Hopefully they will see sense.

Any solicitor worth their weight should pick this up but often it is overlooked, or they are not au fait with planning regulations. More than once in my own house purchases I have had to make them aware of planning and building regulation problems.

Also I should add that once the planners are involved they may go down the route of asking the CFNs to subimit a retrospective LBC but they should stop work immediately while it would be considered. It may be that there is no objection from a conservation point of view to what they are doing but OP I would object if you are uncomfortable with their doors opening onto your garden!
