See that tartan suit on the left. My first 'real' outfit aged 4.

A floral dress with wide sleeves and platform shoes, long curly hair - it was meant to look hippie.

Then an about-turn - as a skinhead - very short hair, Ben Sherman shirt, Sta-press trousers, brogues and a plain black coat.

I much preferred the floral, floaty hippie look - it was prettier.

Jeans with the piping down the side!!

Those canvas belts with a complicated knot so you practically wet yourself

@bigoldsupermoon you must be the same email as me! Especially if you add in global hypercolour t-shirts!

SasBel · 30/07/2017 09:01

Bigoldsupermoon we might be the same age! I loved the alice band and choker look, and I remember tie-dying shirts to wear under a black velvet waistcoat with a long flouncy skirt and Doc MartinsGrin

time4chocolate · 30/07/2017 09:01

Pixie boots
Knickerbockers (velvet)
Pedal pushers
Flower power shirts
Ra-Ra skirts
Moon boots
Jelly bags for school - totally impractical, especially if it rained and they came un-popped at the side if you tried to cram too much in there.
Velvet bow clips to accessorise a massive perm
Rows and rows of shell suits at my local market (I had one in lilac)

Quite shocking really Blush

SasBel · 30/07/2017 09:02

Very glad we did not have smart phones back then!

zen1 · 30/07/2017 09:03

Grey suede slouch boots with legwarmers and thick tights, tight jeans with zips up the ankles, ra ra dresses with rope belts in pastel colours (that was more pre-teen). White sling backs with kitten heels (cringe) were the height of fashion in my secondary school.

Bigoldsupermoon · 30/07/2017 09:03

@redfragglebiker Sounds like it. And those t-shirts - who didn't want a t-shirt that showed off your sweatiness in gloriously underwhelming technicolor?!

NannyR · 30/07/2017 09:03

I remember the global hypercolour t shirts, wearing odd neon socks and neon t shirts and stripy Sweater Shop jumpers.

diddl · 30/07/2017 09:03

Jeans& cheesecloth shirts.

Espadrilles.

PLease let me not be the only oneBlushGrin

zen1 · 30/07/2017 09:04

Oh, I forgot - fingerless gloves.

ThisToo · 30/07/2017 09:05

Bigoldsupermoon I think we must be the same era as your post describes much of my teenage wardrobe Blush

PamelaFlitton31 · 30/07/2017 09:08

middleoftheroad Oh I also had hieroglyphic leggings. I LOVED them. I used to wear them with a black t-shirt and orange accessories (socks, earrings etc!).
And Chinese type canvas shoes. Smile

booellesmum · 30/07/2017 09:11

Bodywarmers
Peddle pushers
Pixie boots
Tie dyed shirts

Bigoldsupermoon · 30/07/2017 09:12

I'll own the first half of your post, Diddl but you're on your own (for now) with the espadrilles 😂

Justgivemesomepeace · 30/07/2017 09:13

Rara skirt, odd neon socks, yellow pedal pushers, fame suit, lady Diana blouse, tbag t shirt, farrah pants for school with a slazenger jumper from gans gear, yes to jelly bag thing as above, we lined ours with bin bags. Donkey jacket and Tucker boots!

ThisToo · 30/07/2017 09:14

SasBel velvet waistcoats! Had totally forgotten about mine. Actually, now I think about it, I think I had quite a few velvet items, choker, waistcoat, jacket, floor length skirt. I promise I didn't wear them all together.

drspouse · 30/07/2017 09:15

Pedal pushers, jelly shoes, and I also wore army surplus trousers.

unyummy4amummy · 30/07/2017 09:16

I wore tons of makeup and spent ages tonging my long layered hair.
I looked really old, but much more glamourous than I do now post kids!
I remember my batwing shirts, collar tips and brooches and long pencil skirts.

Oddly I had a time when I just wore electric blue and black. Thought I was being cool but in retrospect probably looked like a big bruise!

SpottedGingham · 30/07/2017 09:21

Bright blue eyeliner. Blush

Cellardoor23 · 30/07/2017 09:25

I used to wear trouser skirts. I was speaking to someone the other day about this and they had no idea what I was taking about!

Pedal pushers, vest tops with brightly coloured long sleeves shirts over the top. Those jogging bottoms with the poppers down the side. Can't remember what make they were again.

unyummy4amummy · 30/07/2017 09:26

ooh me too and purple mascara, I had almost forgotten!!

jay55 · 30/07/2017 09:27

Garish ski jackets from c&a and never been skiing.
