To think that there should be laws about leggings?

Just reading to my DD in the library. Mum with similar aged daughter is wearing black leggings. I say black but in fact they are closer to a little bit opaque, only a little mind. She is not wearing underwear. She is basically naked from the waist down, sitting four feet from me with her legs open whilst her dd sits on the floor listening to her read. I'm not even sure that they are leggings, they might be tights, they certainly couldn't be any tighter. I feel like I am being presented with a view that should be reserved for gynecologists, midwives and lovers.

I wear leggings but under a long top as I do not want anyone to see my drawers. Once I was greeted by thr sight of a lady in white leggings which had split at the back, thus allowing everyone to see her big flowery pants even more clearly.

ParadiseCity · 28/07/2017 15:20

I don't really care what other people look like tbh. No one forces me to look at them however startling they might be at first glance. Live and let live.

From your user name I take it you're a man? In future when looking at women my top tip is to look at them at face level. Hth.

VestalVirgin · 28/07/2017 15:24

I normally don't give two hoots what people wear, see-through leggings or no, but I was once going up on an escalator behind a girl wearing see through leggings, a tiny pair of white knickers and a sanitary towel.

Hey, at least she was wearing knickers!

Can't understand people not wearing knickers. Confused

I don't think there should be a law on it, that'd be a bit silly, but people should know better.

tb · 28/07/2017 15:25

I was once stuck behind some cyclists on a winding road (Mereheath Lane) so couldn't overtake. The final cyclist was a rather overweight woman who wore no underwear under her lycra shorts. I haven't managed to remove the memory of her rather flaccid cheeks wobbling around.

Was 4 years ago.

Mostly my attitude, too - but genitals should be covered.

I am not much bothered by being able to see their knickers through the leggins, but there ought to be knickers in the first place!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:26

Paradise

Some thing s are unavoidable - you have to look at them. You don't ^want to, but the sheer horror compels* you to.

Accidents on the motorway, other people's windows of an evening; when the lights are on and their curtains open; large hairy moles on people's faces; leggings with no knickers underneath them.

My own Shockhorror moment occurred when I was acting as verger during a Christening in our church. One of the greats was a young, very large lady wearing a very short dress (just past her bum). She bent down to attend to her toddler and mooned the entire congregation - she was wearing a thong. When her frock rode up as she bent over her enter arse stuck out of it.

It was awful.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:27

*guests, not greats - autocorrect and my pathetic typing have had field day today.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 15:28

*entire arse, not enter arse.

Truly sorry about any images that may have conjured up.

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 28/07/2017 15:33

Christ almighty - are we really going to bash other women for wearing an item of clothing that we think is too revealing / distasteful? Isn't it hard enough already to be constantly bashed by the media, by society, that we have to bash each other.

Someone not dressing to what we think is right - makes them wrong, really!!

Give that woman a fucking break. What happened to live and let live!

OOAOML · 28/07/2017 15:39

When I was a teen (I am mid 40s) ski pants were really fashionable, shortly followed by leggings. They were really thick stretchy material, and didn't show your knickers off to everyone.

Floggingmolly · 28/07/2017 15:39

Er, yes, TakeThat Confused. If you really imagine you can walk down the street in see through leggings sans pants without inviting comment, you're barking.

ParadiseCity · 28/07/2017 15:43

TakeThat - I agree - but think OP is a man? Depressing either way.

SheSaidHeSaid · 28/07/2017 15:43

Takethat, do you really think people should be subjected to seeing other people's private parts because they're wearing see-through clothers then?

Man or woman, I don't want to see it unless I've asked to.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/07/2017 15:51

I wear leggings every single day, never any arse on display. And my leggings are thick Brora or Boden ones.

I'm always fairly surprised by wardrobe malfunctions, does no one look in the mirror before they go out.

Xmasbaby11 · 28/07/2017 15:53

Some people are very easily offended. I might notice at the time if someone wears revealing or unusual clothing but it's pretty much instantly forgotten. It just doesn't matter to me.

Mulledwine1 · 28/07/2017 15:55

I guess they do but you can't see behind you can you - even with two mirrors it's not that easy.

I wear leggings to run (always with underwear) but now I am wondering if people are getting a lovely view of patterned knickers!

MycatsaPirate · 28/07/2017 15:57

Even worse are those natural tan coloured leggings which at first glance make you think the person is only wearing a top and nothing else. Definitely a double take with those.

I live on the coast and the sights I see on the beach are amazing!

From people trying to change under a towel the size of a face cloth (and then bending over giving everyone a view of their genitals) to people wearing shorts and a lovely knee high socks/sandals combo. On the actual beach.

NicolasFlamel · 28/07/2017 16:00

Yeah...live and let live, even if people can see your labia in the library...

ChickenBhuna · 28/07/2017 16:00

Agree with others.

Leggings are fine as long as they are not treated as trousers. They must be worn with a tunic or dress.

I'm sorry you had to see that OP. You have my sympathy.

Blobby10 · 28/07/2017 16:01

Whenever I wear leggings its always with a tunic top! My mum drummed it into me when leggings were in fashion when I was late teens/early 20s and its stuck with me. Hate seeing leggings on women or girls when their bum isn't covered but similarly I hate seeing men wearing skinny or elasticated at the ankle jeans. !!

NicolasFlamel · 28/07/2017 16:01

MycatsaPirate haha yes!! I saw a man wearing tight flesh coloured trousers/leggings riding a bike and shouted to my mum "Oh my god he's cycling naked!!!" As we got closer I realised it was just an unforunate fashion choice.

CockacidalManiac · 28/07/2017 16:04

I'm sure that some people patrol threads just looking for something to get offended about.

Gemini69 · 28/07/2017 16:13

many people wear leggings because they're comfortable... and if the leggings are see through.. it's likely the wearer does not know... Halo

ScarlettSahara · 28/07/2017 16:13

Ready to be flamed for sounding preachy 🔥🔥🔥but maybe she does not have the money to kit herself out in different attire, maybe just having a bad day & got dressed in a hurry.
I would be impressed that she has taken her child to the library and is sat on the floor reading to them.
Ok ready to be flamed🔥🔥🔥- I just feel sorry for the poor lady somehow Blush

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/07/2017 16:19

I wear thick m&s non see through leggings all the time to cover unsightly veins on my legs. Wtf would I do with see through
ones?. Sadly, I have to wear thick tights as well. And I always wear them with a dress or a tunic at the very least.
