Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Grumpy you are a genius!!!!

pudcat · 26/07/2017 19:24

It is now an abandoned car and can be reported to the police.

sproutish · 26/07/2017 19:25

I was going to suggest the accidentally dropped a nail/tent peg on the drive idea too... But Grumpy and the milk has won by miles Grin

bettytaghetti · 26/07/2017 19:25

Grumpy I think I luffs you; will you have my babies?! Grin

childmaintenanceserviceinquiry · 26/07/2017 19:25

I definitely think legal harassment is the way to go. For example, VAT. There is an anonymous help line. I would call the benefits people, local council (as already suggested) but try rates, parking, business permits (what would you need for animal welfare?), then HMRC etc.

You have made it clear that she and her clients are not to use your driveway. She has chosen (as an adult) to be disrespectful. Just beyond normal behaviour.

mumsneedwine · 26/07/2017 19:31

Spread some broken glass behind the car so they would have to drive over it to get out 😁

PinkSnowAndStars · 26/07/2017 19:31

What a bloody cheek! I hope you are having a full blown row!

StarlitTrees · 26/07/2017 19:32

Is it unreasonable that they have parked on your drive? Yes.

Are the lack of updates unreasonable? Yes.

Am I impatient and far too overexcited for a new parking thread? Yes!

Unlikelyfarmerswife · 26/07/2017 19:33

So rude! But love a good parking thread

winefortea · 26/07/2017 19:35

Collaborate - I think someone may have been pulling your leg, esp re air theft....

prh47bridge · 26/07/2017 19:36

Abandoned cars are a matter for the council, not the police. The council is the only body with the authority to decide whether or not a car has been abandoned. It is highly unlikely they would decide that this car is abandoned at this stage.

IncidentalAnarchist · 26/07/2017 19:37

Oh, come ON, OP!!

prh47bridge · 26/07/2017 19:37

Collaborate - I think someone may have been pulling your leg, esp re air theft

Collaborate is a lawyer. He knows what he is talking about.

winefortea · 26/07/2017 19:37

Sorry, I don't mean Collaborate! I mean another poster whose name I can't find now!

flumpybear · 26/07/2017 19:38

Cheeky entitlement!! Give them hell!!

Runninglikeamummy · 26/07/2017 19:39

Gosh OP you're patient. I'd have walked round it with a cricket bat...

Tippex on the rear bumper "I am a massive cunt"

Pastamancer · 26/07/2017 19:43

Note through the door of CFN addressed to CFNE saying thank you for the kind gift of the car, please can they drop round all the keys and legal docs so that you can formalise the change of owner with DVLA

LimesAndCoconuts · 26/07/2017 19:45

Clingfilm wrap the car...

StaplesCorner · 26/07/2017 19:45

So OP, when this happened last year, did you do a similar thing, as in say ok well just for a while then, and then your DH said oooh no we mustn't upset anyone?

Because if so then that's why you have a car on your drive that's not yours.

UnicornSparkles1 · 26/07/2017 19:46

Egg the windscreen...

thegirlupnorth · 26/07/2017 19:47

Take photos and contact the council. They may have their right to work from home removed due to lack of parking for their employees and customers.

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 26/07/2017 19:48

well reading the www.flashpark.co.uk/
site there is not a lot YOU can do with out signage.

But you can go round tell them they can move the car NOW and never park there again or you will be force to HIRE a Parking enforcement and they will be billed 50 quid everytime they a parked there. give them the website address and wait. You either grin and bear it or start a long term escalating war with the CFN.
