Is there one on the other side that says "in case of emergency, coconut oil in glove compartment"

April229 · 23/07/2017 13:09

Ridiculous.

Ceto · 23/07/2017 13:10

FFS, Teaformeplease, why do you persist in ignoring the fact that absolutely no-one is vilifying this person for breastfeeding? They are laughing at the fact that she feels it necessary to announce it to the world in a particularly precious, sanctimonious way. And no, since a large number of the people (including me) posting on here have breastfed, manifestly it doesn't represent a paranoid and insecure response from formula feeders.

FunctionalAnatomy · 23/07/2017 13:10

Newname True. I think we are being a bit harsh actually. The person who designed the sticker is the one we should be focussing on!

You can see it happening... a special talk on breastfeeding at antenatal class, where these stickers are given out... a nervous first-time mum trying to get everything right for PFB, and in the sleep deprived early days wonders if baby on board signs are necessary and so sticks that on just in case, because it's to hand...

WorraLiberty · 23/07/2017 13:11

But then you can't argue with stupid.

True Teaformeplease but I'll give it a go anyway...

You seem to be missing the point here, that the wankiness is about the sticker - not about breastfeeding.

HTH.

Ceto · 23/07/2017 13:11

As I said, you can't argue with stupid so I'll leave you all get on with your smug bitching

There's a beautiful irony in someone who manifestly hasn't read the threads properly accusing others of being stupid.

LinoleumBlownapart · 23/07/2017 13:12

Teaformeplease yes I am willing to bet that most of us so called smug bitches breastfed our children. But you may have made those that don't or didn't feel bad now.

You've missed the point of the thread completely.

WorraLiberty · 23/07/2017 13:14

I think Tea actually has read the thread properly.

It's her ability to comprehend what she's reading, that seems to be the problem Ceto.

So yes, the irony is really very funny Grin

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 23/07/2017 13:16

Ugh. No, I'd not be friends with her either. Or read her blog.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/07/2017 13:16

I haven't FTFT but Is that sticker incase she's in a car accident and her boobs aren't in the car, the emergency services know to look for them maybe it's on the car because in case of accident they'll know it happened because she was feeding while driving?

Doobigetta · 23/07/2017 13:16

I'm going to guess that this woman also believes that:

You've never experienced love or seen the world in colour until you've sprogged
Child-free weddings are joyless and will end in divorce
Anyone who raises an eyebrow at her little darlings running around screeching is a human rights abuser
Anyone who cares about the appearance of themselves or their home after having children (probably before as well) is a shallow, terrible person and a bad mother
Anyone who complains about her own mother in law is directly attacking bf-zealot herself because she is a mother of sons

She can probably feed more people with a chicken than Jesus as well.
And probably doesn't have fairy lights or twigs in her house, just charmingly unique pieces the kids made out of their own snot, or something.

AngelaTwerkel · 23/07/2017 13:16

why would anyone feel jealous of any woman who is vilified for feeding her baby using breasts.

Where on earth has she been "vilified for feeding her baby using breasts" (love that turn of phrase, btw!). Way to be a drama llama.

paxillin · 23/07/2017 13:17

As I said, you can't argue with stupid so I'll leave you all get on with your smug bitching.

What a charmer you are and a misogynist to boot. Or are bitches male? You spectacularly misunderstood the thread. Nobody knocks breastfeeding or is threatened by it. I breastfed mine, but this is irrelevant to this thread. This is about a sanctimonious sticker.

I bet the sticker owners are the sort of people who have the world's first ever baby resulting from the first ever pregnancy known to humanity. PFB will be the world's first ever school child on board and then be the first ones to ever go through puberty.

April229 · 23/07/2017 13:18

Is it your sticker Teaforme?

KurriKurri · 23/07/2017 13:21

I see a market for ever more competitive car stickers.

'Child who walked at six months on board'
'Three year old who can parse a latin sentence on board'

etc.

You could get them custom made.

Cocolepew · 23/07/2017 13:29

"Or a leaf" 😂😂

Queenofthedrivensnow · 23/07/2017 13:34

Ah plymouth latch on. I could probably identify which person dreamed up this sticker.

I ran a latch on group for them for a long time and did outreach support. They were good times.

The sticker is wank though

newnamenewnamenewname · 23/07/2017 13:38

I'M GOING TO SHOUT NOW AS NOBODY HEARD ME THE FIRST TIME!!!
(not you FunctionalAnatomy!) dodges flying buns

IT'S AN ADVERT FOR AN NHS RUN BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT SERVICE

The rest of the sticker says "Plymouth Supports Breastfeeding" and has the website address for the "Plymouth Latch On" group.

The poor car owner might be smug and sanctimonious or she might be a grateful service user who needed help establishing breastfeeding and wants to spread the word about the service.

Surely the bigger issue is that someone in the NHS thinks that this is a clever way to promote breastfeeding yet are managing to alienate both formula and breast feeding mums and turn something good into something bad Sad I might email them the link so they can rethink their campaign...

LeakyLittleBoat · 23/07/2017 13:38

Lurking no more of an achievement than menstruating, except nobody would dream of going around using the length and heaviness of their periods to claim superiority over others

Oh some would, I've known some very competitive menstruators in my time. Then you get the ones who judge you on your choice of sanitary products.
If there isn't already a tastefully understated range of bumper stickers out there declaring the driver to be a "Proud Wearer of a Moooncup" "Freewheeling Freebleeder" or "Cloth-Pad Honor Roll Student" you can bet someone on Etsy is designing them as we speak. Grin

glitterlips1 · 23/07/2017 13:44

How cringe! I feel embarrassed for the driver.

Spudlet · 23/07/2017 13:45

You should newname. Because it does exactly the opposite of what they want it to! Instead of making breastfeeding what it should be - normal - it make sure it into some niche pursuit in need of car stickers to promote it.

You normalise breastfeeding through doing, not talking. You could promote positive breastfeeding stories of women breastfeeding in public and not being berated or stared at, which was almost always my experience! I was so ready to feel singled out and self-conscious but really, virtually nobody noticed or cared which was perfect. You should definitely have support groups. But silly, twee car stickers are NOT helpful, imo.

cliffdiver · 23/07/2017 13:48

YANBU!

And I say that as a breastfeeding peer supporter.

I bet they'll upgrade to 'breastfed toddler'

And

'quinoa eating child'

NotYoda · 23/07/2017 13:48

I think it's akin to people who have things like "Scih Tzu lover" stickers on their cars. Just a bit naff.

It's also taking an evangelical position about something, which people don't like about breastfeeding, because it's all a bit more complicated that 'believing' in it.

I have an "I support the RNLI' sticker in my car.
