Frankie I mean when someone else is driving. Like maybe she never drives so she's always free to feed? IDK... clutching I guess!

Forwardsforwards · 23/07/2017 12:39

Its almost as though the car owner things good parenting stops when the child is weaned.

I couldn't breastfeed. I have three well-adjusted children (so far - meaning i try not to take that for granted) Oh and im not with their father anymore. Send me straight to jail!!

Wonders why parenting top trumps is a thing

MrsRaymondReddington · 23/07/2017 12:41

'Baby on board' signs are meant to act as an apology to other drivers for driving like a fanny aren't they? So are we to assume this means she's driving and breastfeeding at the same time?! Grin

herecomesthesun, as I said upthread, that could be one explanation. But it's pretty unlikely that a fireman cutting a baby out of a crashed car is going to stop to think "Hmmm, breastfed baby, might not like taking milk from bottles, better remember to pass that on to the paramedics before getting back to cut out the rest of the family". And I think that, faced with a small baby, people in A&E are going to be able to work out that it might be breastfed and deal with it accordingly.

Spudlet · 23/07/2017 12:42

It's definitely not her car because we live hundreds of miles away, but I know at least one woman who I can imagine having one of these. She's currently been cutting off people who aren't sufficiently Earth-motherly to meet her standard. I was never earth-motherly enough so I was preemptively excluded (which I feel is a bullet dodged, frankly).

I have no issue with whatever way people feed, nappy, dress, sleep, transport or otherwise care for their children (safety notwithstanding) but sneering at others for their choices and assuming the way that works for you is the only suitable way is the mark of a twat. And putting it on a car sticker just makes me think that person is not as secure in their choices as they might wish others to think.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/07/2017 12:42

You know that's a woman with a blog. You know quinoa will feature heavily

And wheatgrass COP. Lots and lots of wheatgrass.

And her child will have an animal's name - Badger, Cheetah, Wombat etc*

I'm actually rather shocked that she uses precious fossil fuels to power her chosen mode of transport. Should her Skoda not be lashed to a couple of draught-goats or something?

*Have you noticed that as dogs/cats etc are being given people names, more and more human babies are being saddled with given zoological ones? There's a thesis in there somewhere.

Madeyemoodysmum · 23/07/2017 12:42

Beyond Ridiculous

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 23/07/2017 12:42

"Boobie baby"?!? Fml what's happened to the world?!?

Lurkedforever1 · 23/07/2017 12:42

What a twat.

In addition to the blog and breastmilk soap etc I bet either she or her dp cooked and ate the placenta post birth.

Forwardsforwards · 23/07/2017 12:42

yes they are ray when i read them i always think

"baby/little princess/granny's superstar driving....."

Ceto · 23/07/2017 12:43

Handsoff, wow. Surely putting that sticker on your car is just asking for hundreds of rude messages to be scrawled all over it?

blackteasplease · 23/07/2017 12:44

I agree it's awful.

I don't think it could begin to help the emergency services. I think it's a misguided attempt to promote bf by showing that others are doing it.

HeyRoly · 23/07/2017 12:45

They exist, rabbitcakes? I mean, I was taking the piss, but they definitely exist Shock

There's definitely a Sancti-mummy (oh sorry, "mummy" is too crass isn't it? I mean "mama") group somewhere on the internet clamouring for those.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/07/2017 12:45

I would be so, so tempted to stick a post-it to her car saying, 'Well done, but nobody cares'.

I would like to add something so that it says "Breast-fed baby and smug pretentious wanker on board."

Cuckingfunt1981 · 23/07/2017 12:46

I am howling at this thread . Quite possibly highlight of my Sunday . This woman is a massive massive TWAT and deserves all this ridicule she is getting on mn . Wonder if she is a mumsnetter?

Teaformeplease · 23/07/2017 12:48

The vitriol on here is astounding. Judgemental or what? I bet your all in favour of breastfeeding but...and it's the "but" that puts so many people off. I bet nothing would be said about a car sticker sponsored by a formula company with some "fed is best" shite on it. The crunchy mummy references are offensive too, again because they are judgemental and suggest that there is only one type of parenting (your own) that is acceptable to you.
Does this lady make you feel threatened/inadequate?

HeyRoly · 23/07/2017 12:48

But is so IMPORTANT to #normalisebreastfeeding, whether it's in the Waitrose car park or pootling around the M25...

zeezeek · 23/07/2017 12:50

In a few years time that sticker will no doubt be replaced with "free range children on board"

Notknownatthisaddress · 23/07/2017 12:50

@FunctionalAnatomy

NotKnown I'd love to live in a commune in a wheat field! To me, that pic looks so inviting! Love being barefoot, love nature, love long floaty skirts. I suppose I'd better leave MN... Sad

I still wouldn't have this wanky sticker on my car organic tricycle though. Grin

LOL Grin

Triskaidekaphilia · 23/07/2017 12:50

It's a sticker promoting a local breastfeeding group. Still twattish though!

ZivaDiva · 23/07/2017 12:50

herecomesthsun Absolute myth that emergency services prioritise looking for a baby if there's a baby on board sticker. We don't even notice them- the stickers that is not the baby.
