I have over 200 emails n my inbox right now because it keeps sending out multiple emails.

Someone was asking for an ipod yesterday.

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 13:43

there's a problem with yahoo, just had an email from my moderator, i keep getting all yesterdays messages many times over!

paulaplumpbottom · 29/03/2007 13:43

I was giving away an old dining table and had a woman get angry because I wanted her to pick it up instead of me paying for it to be delivered. I was giving it away, what more did she want?

willywonkasEgghunt · 29/03/2007 13:51

ppb!!

hotandbothered · 29/03/2007 13:56

Think we're on the same freecycle network staceym11! I'm

3easterbunniesandnomore · 29/03/2007 13:56

ppb, that is shocking....I mena, if they don't wnat to collect then they have to organise transport, surely...some people, eh!
I jsut gave away lots of stuff and there is more to go, lol!
Was lucky so far!

staceym11 · 29/03/2007 14:03

ppb am at that!!

i too have had the multiple emails but im around most of the day so check regularily enough not to end up with too many.

bEllieK · 29/03/2007 14:38

i had each of yesterdays messages 6 times

our group seems to be ok, no outrageous wanted's that i've seen.

cece · 29/03/2007 18:38

Got home to 87 emails most of which were repeats of the same few freecycle messages???

ravenAK · 29/03/2007 22:45

We LOVE it - have recently got rid of a roomful of nasty cheap pine shelving - we described it honestly, said it was being bonfired if no-one wanted it, & it was gone in hours. Have also off-loaded my old, broken lap-top (for someone's school project), a job lot of 'precious first born' type nursery stuff, a manky filing cabinet & pc desk, an exercise machine my mum dumped on us...all out of our lives & of use to someone else.

& we got a brilliant double wardrobe & a highchair for dd.

Next door's broken but fixable washing machine went to an obvious trader, but so what? Saved them carting it to the tip.

OTOH my mate joined due to my glowing recommendation - her first 'yes please!' was to a 'wooden blanket box/chest'. Turned out to be MDF & stank of piss.

snowwonder · 29/03/2007 22:53

great place to get rid of cheating ex's expenxive stuff- quickly

mysonsmummy · 29/03/2007 22:58

i think there should be something by your name that says just how many things you've collected from other people. could stop people getting everything, selling on e-bay and others not getting a look in.

3easterbunniesandnomore · 30/03/2007 14:17

lol snowwonder!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 30/03/2007 21:49

I find you can get rid of anything on Freecycle. I got rid of two broken grandmother clocks - hideous and worthless. I explained that they had woodworm, were frightful, didn't work and I was pretty sure the cat had pissed in one.

19 people wanted them!!!!!

gemmiegoatlegs · 30/03/2007 21:50

ha - on my local freecycle somebody wanted a "proper" hard badied silver cross pram!

SillyMillysMummy · 31/03/2007 15:25

heres one i have copied directly from my local freecycle

SillyMillysMummy - that's a clear breach of the rules of freecycling, but at least she stated it - I've had people turn up who then confess to having driven 60 sodding miles to pick something up.

Green? I think not!

Jenkeywoo · 31/03/2007 23:20

I offered a bath toy tidy box recentley - quite a large box and had someone cheeky asking if I'd post it them! it's already free what were they thinking? After months of trying I finally convinced FIL to freecycle - he offered a lovely carpet - after two no shows though he got fed up and cut it into bits and took it the tip . We also have people asking for really random things - 'wanted TV - must be flatscreen' ... what next?

piximon · 01/04/2007 08:18

Recently I've also noticed people asking for branded items on my local one.
Anyone have a spare Smeg fridge?

I've offered quite a few items and had a mixture of people who have walked half an hour to collect and people who have expressed loads of interest and not turned up.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 01/04/2007 17:49

I name and shame no shows by posting 'reoffered due to the XXX wasting time'.

LunarSea · 02/04/2007 17:20

Somebody on ours - one of those people who posts a WANTED for something or other almost every day - is asking for a Sat Nav today

3easterbunniesandnomore · 02/04/2007 17:24

would it be considered bad attitude if one would ask to have a small item like a book send to them if they are willing to pay for p&p????Any thoughts?

3easterbunniesandnomore · 02/04/2007 17:25

we have had a few sheds as wanted in ours...also, someone ask for stuff and I replied and never got a reply....that us a bit annoying...fair enough if not interested, but could they ot at least say thanks but no thanks!

EllieKthePA · 02/04/2007 19:01

we've just had one asking for a carseat suitable for a 2+ child. I emailed her as i have a spare booster seat and got told she wants one that has a base with it (as in first stage seat and very expensive clip in base i presume). have now sent her an email saying they are not suitable for a 2 yr old!

i'd love the base for my carseat but at £99 i won't be getting it and would be very surprised if someone would offer it for free!

FrannyandZooey · 02/04/2007 19:04

I have had only good experiences on ours

have been able to shift furniture, electrical goods etc to very genuine people who were able to make use of them

and have received toys for ds and a couple of other bits and bobs
