Doesn't he realise Reps aren't there to protect him, aren't they there to protect the Constituion?
No, I actually suspect that, on a really fundamental level, he really doesn't understand how this whole thing works. I think he's spent his life surrounding himself with yes-men and thinking the sun shines out of his arse (while actually not doing particularly well given his starting capital - look up the comparisons of his wealth with how much he's be worth if he'd simply invested in an index fund).
This is a man perpetually stuck in emotional toddlerhood who has never really experienced any serious challenges and is now arguably too old and too full of himself to learn.
