IABU? My husband has worked all his life to be close to power. He's now succeeded in getting an important job and I'm happy for him, even though I hate his boss, but he's decided to be with his new boss instead of with me during labour. Then he sent me a message that I'd send an acquaintance.

She had filed for divorce at the time, so I imagine she wasn't exactly yearning for him to be there.

It's still his child she was giving birth to. You'd think he might show a bit of interest. Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned thinking a text doesn't really quite cut it. On the other hand, perhaps the less he has to do with the upbringing of the little tyke the better chance it stands of growing up to be a decent human being.

saffron totally agree that he can't get his head round the fact he is not running a business but he is answerable to every citizen of the US. I remember before he was elected this point being made.. i.e. would he try and run the US like he runs his businesses...

Interesting article cozie. I thought his father left him a lot of money and that was it but no, his father was continually bailing him out over decades to the tune of at least £14M apparently, enormous money at the time.

Of course the President shouldn't be treated like a peer. It's interesting, though, that she felt the need to say it.
However, there's a difference between respect and how he wants to be treated.
