Where to buy a pasta sauce 'al tartufo'?

Google isn't coming up trumps for me. I know I bought it years ago in Lidl on their seasonal specials.

Just have a craving!

Or a recipe (less preferable) for making my own?

Tartufo is ice cream, not truffle. Just google truffle sauce instead of slightly mangled italian and there are dozens of shopping results.

I've got some I bought from Lidl more recently than that. Worth trying there, I think.

Sacla have a summer truffle pesto. Waitrose had it I think.
Or have a rummage in the 'posh' supermarket sections with the good oil etc for truffle oil or butter. Or try a swanky deli place.

It's funghi al tartufo. Not icecream I assure you.

Second (or third!) Carluccio's. You can buy it online if there isn't a branch near you. They do a lovely clam sauce as well....

Ok, great will look up Carluccio's. Probably cost an arm and a leg, but lovely for a luxury treat.

There are Carluccio restaurants all over the place; they all have a little shop area where you can buy lovely ingredients and chocolate and multicoloured pasta

I was getting big notions about meself there, thinking I could have a bit of tartufo of a Friday evening. Well, I've been put back in me box.

Ha! Good luck with shopping at Carluccio at Christmas! By then they'll have all their Christmas chocolates and nuts and glorious nibbly things for sale. Guaranteed to break the bank, but worth it

You can get one-day delivery on a single order but it costs something like £8 per order. You should be able to just get standard delivery.

Had a look at amazon and it's no cheaper than Carluccio's.

I might try the Sacla one. I've seen it before but it's more orange than the sauce I'm used to.

Another vote for the Sacla black truffle sauce/pesto, Ocado have it at £2:40. Works best with a spoonful of cream stirred into the pasta too.

Sous Chef have lots of truffle items, with a truffle and mushroom sauce at £4:95.

Or more economical in the long run, buy a small bottle of good truffle oil, and add a little to dishes such as mushroom omelette, mushroom pasta, it will give you the truffle hit whenever you want!
