Where to buy a pasta sauce 'al tartufo'?

Either online or in London?

Google isn't coming up trumps for me. I know I bought it years ago in Lidl on their seasonal specials.

Just have a craving!

Or a recipe (less preferable) for making my own?

Grazie in anticipo. ;)

What I will say about the Carluccio's sauces is that they are good quality and a jar is enough for two. So, yes, £6.95 is a lot....but it's a "naice" meal for two that doesn't require anything more than some good pasta and a bit of salad. A lot cheaper than buying some decent meat, or an upmarket ready meal for two, for example.

Lidl often have their filled pasta (tortellini ?) with black truffle and mushroom - more often than they have their truffle oil I think.

I think you'd have more luck in an Italian deli, either in person or online. There seem to be a few online that might be able to help, maybe here?

You can get a teeny bottle of truffle oil for under a tenner in Italian delis / Ocado / I think also in the bit of larger branches of M&S Simply Food where they keep the imported stuff. It will last you AGES so much better value than premade sauce. You could make a standard mushroom pasta sauce and drizzle a bit of truffle oil on at the end.

Still craving it today. Might chance getting a truffle oil. Can't think of any mushroom sauce to drizzle it over though? Anyone have a foolproof recipe for a cooking fool?
