I know it's been done to death but I need to get this out

Scrumptious.

Fuck that word. Just fuck it.

It's a stupid, self indulgent sort of word.

"Oh isn't he SCRUMPTIOUS!" Angry

It's such a childish word somehow. So Mary Poppins.

Also

Meal

When bossy kids are called leaders. Haha! No way. They are just stroppy, bossy little bugs.
When fat women are called real women. Why? The slim ones are automated robots?

GallicosCats · 25/07/2017 18:20

Lemur it's better than floccinaucinihilipilification. Which is entirely lifted from Latin and means 'the act of valuing something as worthless.' Grin

Aeroflotgirl · 25/07/2017 18:26

What's that airy fairy word used to describe wilful and challenging children.

GhostsToMonsoon · 25/07/2017 18:37

Spirited children?

NameChangeFamousFolk · 25/07/2017 19:02

The hashtag thing is so irritating. "Homemade chicken curry" #spicy #foodie #feedingthefamily #realfood #homegrown #loveit #nocrapformykids #utterfuckingtwat

And so on. 99.9999999% of social media is people showing off about something fucking boring.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/07/2017 19:11

Oh god thanks Ghosts that's the word. Little pickle is another one, me and little pickle are going to the farm today, aghgh. Nom noms is another one. Spag bol, and another one that my friend used to describe a curry: Ring stinger Shock

RoboticSealpup · 25/07/2017 19:11

Clitoris. Hate that word. Clit is even worse. I can't bring myself to say it, ever.

missjoanie · 25/07/2017 19:15

'Passed' as a euphemism for died. 'Passed away' I can just about stand but 'passed'? Ugh.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 25/07/2017 19:17

yy to spag bol. It's just ugly to say and hear.

nina2b · 25/07/2017 19:22

MrsHathaway · 25/07/2017 19:52

Clitoris. Hate that word. Clit is even worse. I can't bring myself to say it, ever.

I agree that's it's an awful word ... but I've never encountered an alternative or euphemism that wasn't even more toe-curling.

Lulukat · 25/07/2017 20:32

LadyWithLapdog · 22/08/2017 20:36

Just adding this one as a placeholder so I can then read the thread at leisure and cringe to my heart's content.

Cringe is another one. It's 'cringy', folks.

Andrewofgg · 22/08/2017 20:39

Free spirit = spoilt brat

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 22/08/2017 21:13

Spread (instead of buffet)
Muff
Ciggy
Flaps
Super (instead of very)
Thighs
Skiddies

SabineUndine · 22/08/2017 21:25

'Ignorant' as used by people who are so ignorant that they don't know it really means 'uninformed' or 'uneducated' and think it means 'stupid'.

'Entitled' used by people to mean 'this person is not entitled to this in my opinion but they act as though they are', 'arrogant' or 'presumptuous'.

'Refute' used instead of 'deny'. Refute means 'disprove'.

Coy words: rooster for cock, tidbit for titbit, panties for knickers.

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 22/08/2017 21:26

Just tapped the "I'm on" pin and saw my last post compressed as MuffCiggyFlaps!! That has tickled me Grin

SabineUndine · 22/08/2017 21:28

holibobs

ForagingForFaerieGold · 22/08/2017 22:25

Normalcy (since when is this a word?)
Gotten
Feature wall
Can I? ( when you mean MAY I?)
Boo (as in a loved one)
Bae
Soz (sorry)
Tomoz

Basically Americanisms and made up nonsense (these catergories are not mutually exclusive)

Oh, and like like like like like like. Arrrrgh

Andrewofgg · 22/08/2017 22:51

Gotten was the older English form; it is in the AV and Shakespeare.

Normalcy appears to have been made popular by Warren G Harding, the most pig-ignorant twat ever elected President before Trump.

Alicecooperslovechild · 22/08/2017 23:04

Text speak (LOL etc)
Holibobs
Funbags (they're breasts, boobs, tits if you must but not funbags)
C*nt (can't bring myself to say it or write it)
All management speak - we can have a conversation, we don't need to 'touch base', I'm never going to voluntarily 'throw something at the wall and see if it sticks'
Moist, gusset, squelch, discharge
Guilty pleasure
Ducks (as a form of address)
Lounge-wear
