Why do they do this? It makes no difference at all.
I would never bite them, but I do think about it.

OP posts:
Notknownatthisaddress · 16/07/2017 21:58

FFS, MEN do it as well.

Why point out only women doing it?

Fucking pathetic.

StickThatInYourPipe · 16/07/2017 21:59

Hint that should say not alert!

Sparklingbrook · 16/07/2017 21:59

I am not assuming anything just wondering if the OP is a man that's all.

Mumzypopz · 16/07/2017 22:03

If it's to do with being menopausal, why is it mainly younger women that I see doing it!? Why do people need to know people are hot and not just a sweaty person!? That just doesn't make sense. When I see a woman flapping her hand in her face, I just think it's a look at me type of thing, and it slightly annoys me. You don't see women abroad doing it all the time, who actually live in hot countries. And why do it when crying?

Mumzypopz · 16/07/2017 22:04

I used to think women did it to show off their nails.

GinaFordCortina · 16/07/2017 22:06

Because it blows air in their face. Is this a trick question? Hmm

StickThatInYourPipe · 16/07/2017 22:07

Because if moves the air and creates a slight breeze. Ffs do you understand when people do it with card or paper? If they don't have anything and they are really hot they are probably just desperate for some feeling of cool.

The crying thing? I think people do it to dry the eyes a bit so the tears aren't so much

I certainly don't think it's a look at me thing

Spudlet · 16/07/2017 22:09

Why would you bite them? Are you a shark? A vampire? A mosquito?

Enquiring minds must know!

iklboo · 16/07/2017 22:11

Bite them? Are you a poodle?

DrFoxtrot · 16/07/2017 22:12

I've just tested it too, flapping hands does indeed waft a little cool air in my face. So now you know OP.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/07/2017 22:13

I am sat here waving my hands in front of my face

It might help tone my arms

RiverTam · 16/07/2017 22:14

I think women (specifically) do it when crying so they can dry their eyes won't out smudging their eye make-up. Also perfectly reasonable.

IGotTheMustardOut · 16/07/2017 22:18

I flap my hands in front of my face to piss people off so they start threads on the Internet complaining about it.

twattymctwatterson · 16/07/2017 22:19

Who actually gives a fuck about these things?

BuzzKillington · 16/07/2017 22:19

I have just tried it. Seems a bit strange - I don't know anyone that does it.

BarbarianMum · 16/07/2017 22:22

Is that you Donald? People with hands of an average size can in fact generate a breeze by doing this. HTH

paxillin · 16/07/2017 22:22

Perhaps I've got hands the size of bog lids, but it does make a difference, I just tried.

Auspiciouspanda · 16/07/2017 22:26

I do it, my big ass hands are a perfectly adequate fan 👌🏻

annielouise · 16/07/2017 22:27

I think actresses like Jennifer Aniston started that trend to stop themselves crying. I first saw her do it and then it seemed to take off over here. I thought it was to stop yourself crying in case it ruined your mascara. A bit of an affectation in that case but I suppose if it works to cool yourself down why not do it.

KurriKurri · 16/07/2017 22:27

Seriously why do you care.

Why do you fucking care?

BenjaminLinus · 16/07/2017 22:40

Wow your big ass hands are bigger than a storage unit!

AngelaKardashian · 16/07/2017 22:43

It does cool you.

And doing it when emotional makes me think I might dry my tears away, slightly. I'm a crier, shoot me.

Also, fuck off.

scaryclown · 16/07/2017 22:45

You can't mop your brow in make up

Xmasbaby11 · 16/07/2017 22:47

It makes a small difference. Maybe if there's no other option?
