To think there's not a tin opener in the world that actually works as it should.

I've been through so many different designs now and the £15 one is exactly as hopeless as the 79p Wilko one.
DH has bought two electric ones recently... both ended up in the bin.
Our latest one seems like a basic design of old which I bought with hope in my heart (cannot recall them not working in the 70s when I was a lass). However, it takes about 300 turns of the handle to get it to move 1cm around the tin edge.
I have arthritis in both wrists and can no longer put up with this nonsense. Surely, in this day and age there must be a tin opener that does what it says on the tin.

TofuCat I think my current one is a Morrisons, but it takes 300 turns of the handle to move 1cm. DS actually counted and measured!
To make matters worse, I bought tuna last week without ring pulls by accident. God only knows when it will get eaten... when someone has an hour to spare I suppose.

I'm with Rivers. Takes the lid off first time AND leaves the tin finger safe. Far safer and cleaner than ring-pull tins as well.
When our old one died I despaired of getting another ... until I saw one in the tiny site shop on our first camping trip.
Best 99p I ever spent.

We're the same, tried various different can openers and don't have joy or longevity with any of them. It doesn't help that I'm right-handed and DH is left-handed. We've ended up with two butterfly style openers, mine was dirt cheap £2 and his cost a fortune from a lefties shop!

We have this one. Had it for three years now. I'm right handed and struggle with wrist grip some days and I can use it without any issues. DP is left handed and also uses it without a problem. It is dishwasher safe too.
