To hate the song "Shape of You"?

I mean, it's basically only talking about the woman's body and looks, but literally nothing else, yet it's inexplicably popular.

I just don't get it - why can't songs have a good message behind them?

We always wonder how smelly the girl must've been if she was only in his room over night and the bedsheets stink of her. And yes, dd who is four adds 'poo'.

You are not wrong, I really don't like this song. My dd aged 8 thinks I am very unreasonable however.

Is it true that Galway Girl was a huge hit in Ireland whilst equally slammed for being utter stereotypical shite?

I half-remember an Irish comedian on 8 Out for 10 Cats saying something about everyone salting it and then it would come on the pub speakers and they'd all jump up and go wild 😂

I know it probably isn't true and just used for comedic effect, but it made me laugh anyway.

I like it when chabuddy g from people just do nothing sings it. "I'm in love with chaaaa-buddy"

Other than that, I'm not an ed Sheeran fan, should he want to know.

Slating not salting!

I think it's ok to say you like the shape of someone's body - why not? I like the shape of certain men better than the shape of others. What's for me, might well not be for someone else, eg. I'm into broad shoulders and it's part of what attracted me to DH, but some women prefer a slimmer build. The song is just saying that he's attracted to the shape of this woman's body. Nothing unusual or offensive there. Hopefully he likes her personality too, but no need to mention the whole package necessarily Grin.

If you want to know how Ed feels about women, I suggest listening to his other songs written for other artists. Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" stands out as a pretty awful example.

He is a steaming pile of turd. That castle on the hill song is patronising as fuck.

Bloody crap.

He has also written Rita Ora's new one when she sings about shagging on his best mates couch and how she can taste him on the tip of her tongue.

He really must know some pungent people.

I know it's shallow but I find him so physically repellent I hate imaging him getting if with anyone. And the song makes me imagine he has really smelly bedsheets.

That's a really horrible thing to say. I hope you are perfect.

Yeah I known it's horrible, and I'm certainly not perfect, but I do think he's really repulsive to look at.

Bed sheets can smell after sex. Nothing wrong with that! Jeez what alot of prudes. Given that his first hit song was an ode to young women who have to sell their bodies for drugs, I'm not sure he is a women hating misogynist.

I can guarantee that nobody ever said "put your body on me" to Ed Sheeran.

Choice lyrics from 'Love Yourself' (originally called 'Fuck yourself')

"But when you told me that you hated my friends/ The only problem was with you and not them."

"My mama don't like you/ And she likes everyone"

"Cause if you like the way you look that much/ Oh baby you should go and love yourself"

Comes off in a sexist way to me and the lyrics seem very spiteful. Especially how it's a main theme that the girl loves herself - is that bad?

If you really want to get offeneded by lyrics of pop songs you need look no further than the charming international star Jason derulo who wrote these lyrics in the hit 'talk dirty to me';
Dos cadenas, close to genius,
Sold out arenas, you can suck my penis.

Ed sheeran is a puppy dog in comparison

Shame, because his first album was really good. The A-Team is fantastic, so is Lego House.

Now all his songs are about drinking, drugs, sex and the like. I don't know why, but he's gone really downhill.

He ripped the melody off from TLC's No Scrubs too and had to give the writer a credit on the song.

These lyrics from Castle on the Hill wind me up - he lists negative these things about his childhood friends' lives and then says 'But' as though what they have done and how they have ended up is so terrible and they're lucky he's still going back to hang out with them.

One friend left to sell clothes
One works down by the coast
One had two kids but lives alone
One's brother overdosed
One's already on his second wife
One's just barely getting by
But these people raised me
And I can't wait to go home

Well some women do love themselves, let's face it.

Exactly Ghetto - I also strongly doubt anyone said "put your body in me" to ES. Shudder at the thought. There was one video where he was dancing with a very beautiful woman in some kind of grand hall and he just looked ridiculous. I don't know why the directors thought he could get away with it.

In fairness, he wrote "Love Yourself" as a break up song, so it was going to be full of spite toward that woman, not all women.

My favourite shit lyric of his is: "I'll be loving you til you're 70"

Oh right, what happens after that? I die? You get bored of me and fuck off with a 20 year old? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IM 71, Ed...WHAT HAPPENS!!!?

That was cathartic.

I suspect his girlfriend may have asked him to put his body on hers! I am trying to bring my kids up not to be so shallow. So far it's working. They hate Bieber but like sheeran. Gingers don't put them off

Shape of you is about a relationship that starts off sexual then develops into falling in love and they start dating.

As for love yourself, it was written with bieber, and s about one of biebers ex girlfriends. It's original title is fuck yourself, not love yourself, and it was changed so it could be sold and played on radio etc. I think we all have exes we want to tell to go fuck yourself.

I like both songs and see nothing wrong with them.
