I've got new neighbours. I really doubt they are my kind of people. They've got a glittery toilet seat.

What makes you hoik up your Irrational Judgy Pants?

"People who know they have people visiting but leave undercrackers drying on radiators "

What are you supposed to do if they're not dry yet?

Gwenhwyfar · 16/07/2017 12:48

"People who drink out of cans in the street."

Are plastic bottles OK or is it any drinking in the street? Even when it's hot? What are we supposed to do instead? Carry a glass with us everywhere or pay twice as much to sit in a cafe?

Kursk · 16/07/2017 12:58

If only people here could come to a family party with us. It would be the biggest collective judgy pants wedgie ever. At the last event

Grandfather giving child sip of whisky and coke

10 year old being taught how to shoot a rifle

Crocs and ugg boots everywhere

Most people wearing at least one item of "realtree" or "mossyoak"

Gwenhwyfar · 16/07/2017 12:59

"I did read once somewhere that mispronouncing words is a sign that someone learnt them by reading, which is very true for me. "

Yes, I was amazed when I finally found out how you're supposed to pronounce awry.

Kursk · 16/07/2017 13:01

Just thaught of this one:

Wearing items of "realtree" or "mossyoak" clothing to formal functions.

No DH you can't wear your Dress camo to the restaurant!

Gwenhwyfar · 16/07/2017 13:04

Kursk - I don't know what those brands of clothing are, but did the whiskey and rifle things happen in this country???

BBTHREE76 · 16/07/2017 13:26

I am far more judgey than I thought - a few more.....

  • people parking in disabled spots when not entitled to, to get to a cash machine or similar. (I know you shouldnt assume that someone isn't disabled but when it's car with blacked out windows and has 3 teenage boy racers in it who leap out of the car, it's a fair bet they are not.
  • I also have a totally unfair (and probably very specific to me) suspicion of adult males who can't drive. This is wrong I know but if they have never had a lesson and aren't using public transport for an environmental reason then I wonder why and judge! 😐
Takenforanob · 16/07/2017 13:37

Drivers, often male, who drive low down in their seats, leaning to the passenger seat with one hand across the wheel.....not sure if I've explained that well. Boy racers.

People who take their young kids to soft play and expect every other bugger to referee/look after them while theydrink their coffee.

Mine was ethereal - etthher-real! Grin

Heartofglass12345 · 16/07/2017 13:40

I am in stitches reading this whilst sat on my glittery toilet seat 😂

PlinkyTheFairyWitch · 16/07/2017 13:42

formerbabe Yes of course, but I find it baffling if both parents work long hours if it's not financially necessary.

I think working can be about personal identity, financial independence, making a contribution to society, all sorts of things as well as money per se. Would you not maybe do a bit of charity work if you won the lottery? I'd also hate to take money off my DH if I wasn't working. Maternity leave, involuntary unemployment - sure, lazing about - nope.

Ooo, I have another one - people who put the wrong date as their birthday on FB for 'security reasons' so you look a right plonker wishing them a happy birthday 3 days/weeks/months early/late.

MrsHathaway · 16/07/2017 13:56

On Relationships board it's always recommended to "keep your hand in" regardless of your partner's earnings, because none of us knows what the future holds. Some jobs suit part time working but others just don't. Some jobs support a career break and others just don't.

Kursk · 16/07/2017 13:59

Gwenhwyfar No this was last weekend in the USA

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2017 14:17

Either don't wash them so soon to a visit if you know they will be left out, plan better, or remove them for the duration of their visit.

I've never met anyone who would have their knickers on the radiator drying if expecting guests though.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 16/07/2017 14:33

@PlinkyTheFairyWitch

I'm not working because we decided I would stay at home and look after our young children. I gave up a great job to do this and I don't regret it. I am not on maternity leave anymore but I most certainly work longer hours and I never get the chance to laze around. Therefore I feel zero guilt about taking money from my husband, we made a deal and that involved him supporting us all financially.

PlinkyTheFairyWitch · 16/07/2017 14:36

Good for you, @Ginlinessisnexttogodliness!

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2017 14:40

BBThree, I agree with you on both counts but add to your first one, people who park dangerously so that they are right outside the shop when there is a parking space available nearby or who park with at least two wheels on the pavement causing pedestrians to have to walk on the road.

I think a man not being able to drive, unless there was a medical reason, would be a deal breaker.

sodablackcurrant · 16/07/2017 14:45

Men who wear rings other than wedding band. And double triple judgy if they also have visible tats and wear a chain bracelet thinggy.

Oh and if they have keys on a holder attached to belt loops on their trousers.

People who have tons of Christmas lights flashing for the grid outside their house.

Those who park in disabled spots without a blue badge. I really judge that one.

Kids with ear piercings if they are not automatically enrolled as in Spain.

Loud neighbours who don't care about anyone else. Yes of course I judge you.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 16/07/2017 14:49

Ok Spikey, sorry if I was a bit er, spikey. But for people who choose it for aesthetic reasons, the judgey pants remain firmly on.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 16/07/2017 14:51

@PlinkyTheFairyWitch not sure what that means! I wasn't be aggressive, apologies if it came across that way, I was just stating a fact. It's not just ladies who lunch and go to the gym chose not to work. We could have afforded the childcare but i didn't want to miss out on these early years. It's bloody hard work though, much more so than my career. I thought tent left me drained, pah!

I agree with your comments about work and career contributing to your sense of identity and purpose but choosing not to work can be equally fruitful different reasons and not involve lazing about whilst still receiving money from your working OH

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2017 15:02

I'm judgemental when it comes to names but I think other people are too. Not the Darren and Sharon type names, which are pleasant enough, but became too popular, but names that are made up like Jaythaniel or Emilyjade. or spelt creatively or incorrectly like Kayliegh or Jorja.

ppeatfruit · 16/07/2017 15:07

I thought of one I've been judgey about for years (without the EU referendum) . It's not irrational though (not to me anyhow Grin )

People who go to live in Spain, or any foreign country, living in British ghettoes, don't bother to learn a word of the native language and vote for Brexit fgs!!!!!!

TheLittleShirt · 16/07/2017 15:07

I judge people , who judge other people on the newspaper that they read. Especially when they have known , liked and respected them for years but suddenly change their view of them because they read the Daily Mail for example.
