Hi guys new thread.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Oh no, the Pastor's sister in law has died so he has to do the eulogy. That is very sad, but it will keep him in America I assume.

Ellie56 · 14/07/2017 22:12

Agree Lexieblue there are probably lessons to be learned from this case.

One lesson surely is when communicating to colleagues via email etc, always assume at some point they will be read by parents and write about parents or their views in a less inflammatory manner.

I also think the medics will talk among themselves at some point without the parents being present. It just won't be on record.

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 22:13

I'm just keeping fingers crossed judge is playing a real cool poker hand. I don't think he's convinced about new treatment and is after all covering everything so this cannot go further or keep rebounding. I think as I said previously that the parents refusal for any more scans is the pivotal point to their case. If the expert wants up to date info to make his decision he isn't going to get it so can't confirm he will treat Charlie. He would be a fool to touch Charlie without definite proof of the damage to his brain because of fear of a lawsuit and damage to his reputation. That is why judge not forcing (yet) a new scan apart from danger to Charlie in doing so. The expert will say can't treat cos no new info and the parents case falls apart.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/07/2017 22:14

Another thought about the precedent this might have set for the future ...

However misguided some of us may consider them, I doubt anyone would deny Charlie's parents' obvious love for him. Unfortunately, sad as it is, not every parent feels the same way, and motivations may differ in other future cases

Tragically, there may even be a very few whose reasoning lies in the colossal sums which have been raised in this instance Hmm

FantasyAndHope · 14/07/2017 22:14

beyond
It wasn't till after they lost the first court case that I looked at why. And realised there was more to the case then just a need for funds

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 22:16

They haven't spent a penny yet fighting for Charlie as far as I am aware. GOSH ontheotherhand has had to pay out masses as have the taxpayer.

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 22:19

Some people might think that the money is for their new life in America. But that would be the sort of thing people on CA would say about someone. No, the money will be for Charlie I am sure.

Lexieblue · 14/07/2017 22:20

Yes Ellie I also think they will (and should!) I think Hinaro has probably collaborated with GOSH in the past given the rare nature of the condition and paucity of experts. I'm actually a little surprised he hasn't been consulted before all of the court proceedings. Although he may have been of course. The general public do not have the full story, nor should we. I already think far too many confidential pieces of information about Charlie are in the public domain.

Imaweeble · 14/07/2017 22:20

I think the question thing is new because I joined a few weeks ago and wasn't asked any questions. Mind u it was before all the protests and name calling.

ememem84 · 14/07/2017 22:22

I had a look at the ca page earlier. The couldn't work out why a multi disciplinary hearing was being held. Until one piped up that gosh we're getting disciplined. Like they should.

Someone else had to explain that it meant all areas were coming together to discuss...

Have also seen things like "at least this judge has a heart unlike the other one" correct me if I'm wrong but same judge?

Sostenueto · 14/07/2017 22:22

However not so sure about other family members motives. The parents is purely for funds in america for treatment etc as they won't get it free forever especially if it doesn't work.

OhMrsQ · 14/07/2017 22:22

Hi.
I've just started reading about this - what is CA?

In a nutshell - GOSH and judges rule he should be allowed to die, parents want to try new treatments?

Sorry for my ignorance. I'm in California and if I search 'CA' I just get California pages!

Ta1kinPeace · 14/07/2017 22:25

CA = Charlies Army = www.facebook.com/groups/265101867249571/

It is so sad that the family still engage with them

OhMrsQ · 14/07/2017 22:26

thank you!

Rachel0Greep · 14/07/2017 22:27

Yes, same judge.

DorotheaBeale · 14/07/2017 22:29

I'm actually a little surprised he [US doctor] hasn't been consulted before all of the court proceedings. Although he may have been of course.

I believe it was said during the first court hearing that he and the GOSH consultant had been in contact. IIRC they were in contact when the treatment was first suggested, and again at the judge's request prior to the court hearing.

OhMrsQ · 14/07/2017 22:30

oh my goodness.

Goodness.

BoreOfWhabylon · 14/07/2017 22:31

Hi OhMrsQ !

If you get a chnce, please do read the links in the second post on this thread. They should bring you nicely up to speed Smile

muckypup73 · 14/07/2017 22:32

Lexieblue, according to the judge this expert fromthe Usa has been invited since January to come but has chosen not too, maybe the judge has paid for his ticket this time and thats why hes comming now????

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 14/07/2017 22:34

What is it that has shocked you so OhMrsQ?

Charlie's Army? Mike Pence? Something else? (there's a lot to choose from)

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 22:39

@3littlebadgers so sorry, it won't let me reply to your dm, sending you big hugs. X

BigGreenOlives · 14/07/2017 22:39

I had a look at his biography & I think he had a research program running until 30th June 2017, I presume he needed to be at his university until then to supervise the work.
