Hi guys new thread.

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

@SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning

I agree - they look physically, mentally and emotionally shattered.

muckypup73 · 15/07/2017 20:25

TheFairyCaravan, lmao, I keep saying it but these people are allowed to vote, I find that scary.

There must be something that comes out of this case - to ensure a child never ever goes through all this again.

Maudlinmaud · 15/07/2017 20:28

I said I wouldn't look, but I wanted to see the seahorse person. Couldn't find her btw.
I did spot a post using Mariah Carey lyrics, they substituted Dr Hirano for hero. I feel so mean.

Ellie56 · 15/07/2017 20:29

They walk among us and they are allowed to vote. I am not sure which is most terrifying.

muckypup73 · 15/07/2017 20:29

Ellie56, I personally belive thats what will happen.

DarthMaiden · 15/07/2017 20:29

I don't think the case will have any legal ramifications, in so far I don't think we are going to see a precedent set over parental rights.

What I do fear however, is that there is less likelihood of a consensus being reached where doctors/parents disagree because it has set an expectation that if you stir up enough noise on mainstream and social media you can override the rule of law.

As such we will see more cases like this, that drain time and money from the NHS to the detriment of many, many patients - both adults and children.

Lelloteddy · 15/07/2017 20:29

I think that whatever the outcome of the case, it WILL be used in future similar cases. In much the same way as Tony Blands case is now used as a 'benchmark' for ethical debates and in court proceedings.

jobergamot · 15/07/2017 20:31

what is this 'thunderclap' they are on about on CA?? And how on earth does this help the poor little fella?

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 15/07/2017 20:32

Yeah just saw the lyrics..then the candles..just no

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/07/2017 20:32

The Mail, now has the 'prisoner of the state' story.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4699636/Charlie-Gard-s-family-spokesman-blasts-authorities.html

Comments overwhelmingly pro GOSH position.

muckypup73 · 15/07/2017 20:32

jobergamot, they tried doing a thunder clap the other day it did not work, bombarding socail media is what it means.

OP posts:
Butterymuffin · 15/07/2017 20:37

Thunderclap = lots of people posting a message of support at the same, pre arranged time. It gets it trending on sites like Twitter so in theory raising awareness.

Maudlinmaud · 15/07/2017 20:41

Kiteee I'm worried about the possibility of Dr Hirano not fulfilling his hero role. It's all so tragic and then you throw the daft conspiracy theories and opinions into the mix. What happens to the parents when this all comes to an end. Nobody seems to be looking after them. Charlie is being nursed and cared for at the moment, meanwhile his parents are floundering.

raspberrysuicide · 15/07/2017 20:44

I've been kicked off the CA facebook page, I thought I was asking some fair questions but of course as soon as you dare to contradict one of them you get told you're a child killer!

AlabamaShakes · 15/07/2017 20:44

I dare say the reason the thunderclap didn't work the other day is probably because so many people have hidden or deleted the CA members profiles. Lots of people don't agree with them, or at least just getting fed up of the constant posts.

I'm not sure if this works on twitter (not a user) but I've certainly hidden a work colleague on FB

Lightlovelife · 15/07/2017 20:46

DarthMaiden not according to CA. They look strong.

raspberrysuicide · 15/07/2017 20:46

Just read that Daily Fail link, if his parents were rich they could have taken him to America etc
They are rich, they have over 1 million pounds to do just that!
CA were saying about donating more money, £1 each in a birthday card.

Lets hope they are prepared to help pay for his 24/7 care if he lives then

Writerwannabe83 · 15/07/2017 20:47

The CA bunch are actually quite frightening. Their paranoia and delusions mixed in with the absolute belief they know the 'truth' is very unnerving.

They are still going on about GOSH not having provided the head measurements......have they just chosen to ignore the fact that there are no measurements because C&C won't allow them to be done. They really do just see/hear what they want to. It is so bizarre!!!

MirandaWest · 15/07/2017 20:50

Why do so many people believe in "parental rights" and then that they are being taken away? It puzzles me.

TinselTwins · 15/07/2017 20:52

Lets hope they are prepared to help pay for his 24/7 care if he lives then

Quite. If the therapy "worked" and he didn't deteriorate further, will they be still wearing his pictures on their tee-shirts when he's a blind brain damaged 19 year old rather than a cute baby, and having a whip around to help his parents pay for incontinence pads when the money is gone, spent on round the clock care?

It's a Dystopian brave new world if what care you get depends on how popular you are online.

Butterymuffin · 15/07/2017 20:52

I'm actually quite heartened by the
Daily Mail comments. Most people there do not accept the 'prisoner of the state' notion and are defending the NHS's efforts.

Maudlinmaud · 15/07/2017 20:54

I agree with that statement about CA, they have never wavered in their support. I on the other hand flit between two opposing views. I have admitted I am conflicted.
Being open minded is very important, the only way you can get to middle ground or indeed the truth is by looking at all sides of an argument.

zeezeek · 15/07/2017 20:54

It says a lot for the level of twattery on CA when even the DM seems reasonable
