I don't think he will either, Zoflora. But that's not based on anything specific, I certainly can't get inside his head, it's just the feeling I have.
I can only hope that whatever the outcome, it's the best for Charlie.

After reading something on the CA page, I've been reading up on Simon's Law - currently doctors in some states of the US can add DNRs to the files of infants without even telling the parents. I think CA would be much less keen to send Charlie to the states if they were aware of that!

I think he would have to pay as soon as out of the NHS. He would be a UK citizen now so entitled to NHS care, as a US citizen would be off to US wouldn't he?

Charlie being on Morphine suggests that he is in pain, which lends weight to the argument that he is suffering. If he has been on morphine for a while that's one thing, but if it's only been introduced recently I can understand (a little) why his parents might think it's for effect and not needed.

I don't understand the birthday card thing properly. It's 3 weeks away and no one knows what will happen before then

In my more cynical point of view is there some element of trying to prevent anything happening before his birthday "but there's birthday cards for him". Although maybe it is just a belief that he will be fine and so it makes sense to get prepared!

Very odd tweet about "rumours" from CGF I certainly haven't seen anything - well apart from some of the rubbish being spouted by some members of CA.

From my memory sand babies being ventilated are usually given pain relief as it isn't comfortable

Re the pastor not being allowed to pray at Charlie's bedside I quite reasonably said 'Perhaps they needed to check his credentials'. It is still pending.

Darth, reading CGF's recent tweets it seems that she tweeted that just before she flew out of Heathrow back to the US. It's stirred up the mob, as it was intended to do.
I must admit I've been having a think about what the rumour could be, but haven't come up with anything.

I would think as with our hospital they usually only allow close family and two members at a time (remember this as once my mother wouldn;t leave and DH wasn't allowed in)

Can you imagine having a seriously ill child in intensive care and this American pastor wailing away about the Lord?!?

But can imagine it'ld suit some people's agendas to convince C&C to relinquish Charlie's british citizenship, great headlines for them "Socialized healthcare is so evil that Charlie's parents gave up his British citizenship"
They'ld love it!
THEN he MIGHT have to pay, although NHS entitlement goes on residency and not citizenship, so maybe not.

i'm sure GOSH would be relieved if he could be transferred elsewhere but no other NHS hospital will take him apparently. Maybe this is why new interest in transfer to US...
