Continuation of the discussion.

It looks highly unlikely that there will be a verdict today as GOSH have not yet been able to put their case across. The Gard family had their position heard this morning and currently an expert witness from the US is being questioned via video link.

I've just read on CA FB that Charlie shouldn't be left alone without a family member present because otherwise the staff will "make sure his life ends" which leads on to someone saying that the nurses will make up a concoction of drugs and put it through his IV.

Do people actually believe that??

One woman stood up to them and said GOSH wouldn't do that but she was shot down and told, "Of course they would, they'd do anything to cover their own hides!"

It's just crazy!!!

MillieMoodle · 13/07/2017 22:14

So is it the case that the multi-disciplinary meeting is for doctors/lawyers to meet and try to agree which points they agree on, and which are still in dispute?

I think the judge is trying to encourage the parties to come to a decision together, rather than him making a ruling, in the hope that whatever is decided will be something they all feel comfortable with.

Whether that's C&C realising that there is very little hope for Charlie to have a "normal" life, or whether that's GOSH agreeing to try the treatment for a set period of time, I really don't know. C&C have said all along that they wanted the treatment to be tried for 3 months and if there were no signs of improvement then they would let Charlie go.

Even the experts can't decide what's best for this beautiful little boy. As a pp said, if ever there's a time when I wish I could wave a magic wand, it's now.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 22:15

Sostenueto, what do you mean?

sodablackcurrant · 13/07/2017 22:16

@Sostenueto.

"None taken mucky, drink up your lagging behind."

Brilliant, gave me a good laugh in the midst of all this.

Thanks.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 22:17

Writerwannabe83, if Gosh were like that they would have done it a long time ago and saved themselves some money at the same time, I am absolutely astounded, sorry at the silly people, I would love to know how to say something else and put the line through it, so I curtailed my laungage.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 22:18

sodablackcurrant, I am stilll lagging behind lol

sodablackcurrant · 13/07/2017 22:19

Lightlovelife · 13/07/2017 22:20

BBC news sounded more positive too, but it was still 'might' and 'could'.

sodablackcurrant · 13/07/2017 22:21

mucky,

Great to see a sense of humour. I love that.

Although the thread is difficult, there has to be some levity somewhere.

Sostenueto · 13/07/2017 22:21

Sostenueto,you lucky person!!!! lol

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2017 22:26

I think the court is in session again at 2pm to discuss how close the parties are to arranging the meeting.

Writerwannabe83 · 13/07/2017 22:26

Another poster: "My children will NEVER come to your hospital you horrible vial people! They are my children I made them and I WILL decide all aspects of their care until they are old enough to decide themselves #SHAMEONYOU@greatormondstreet"

They may not be making death threats anymore but they are still saying the most appalling things.

I really, really hope the reputation of GOSH isn't severely damaged by all of this Sad

sodablackcurrant · 13/07/2017 22:27

mucky.

Me too, but onwards and upwards. eh?

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 22:28

Sorry but they are a bunch of uneducated bufoons, they do not have a clue what they are actually fighting for!!!!!

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 22:28

sodablackcurrant, that is ecatly what I was trying to say....

GriefLeavesItsMark · 13/07/2017 22:30

I've just watched the video of Charlie's army demonstrating outside the court; maybe two dozen including bored toddlers. More of a small platoon really.

Lots of posts of on the Facebook page from parents saying they've been ignoring their children because of Charlie.

Alfiemoon1 · 13/07/2017 22:30

i hope tomorrow brings a close to this as it has become ridiculous threats to NHS staff etc. My believe is that Charlie should be allowed to pass away peacefully with his parents gosh have provided great care and probably have some of the best doctors and I have no doubt if they thought Charlie condition could be improved or that he wasn't suffering or had any quality of life they wouldn't be going through the courts. If the court decides he can go to USA for treatment I hope is the miracle c and c are hoping for I doubt it but I hope it is but one way or another a decision needs to be made as poor Charlie is being kept alive probably suffering while all this goes on.

thatdearoctopus · 13/07/2017 22:31

Apologies if I've missed this, but has any explanation been offered as to why GOSH didn't turn up with an accurate skull measurement? I mean I heard that Connie had a go with a tape measure, but is the lack of official data because it's too tricky to move him? In which case, a transatlantic flight isn't looking too hopeful, is it?

Lightlovelife · 13/07/2017 22:33

I doubt it Writer. In real life if offered the chance of GOSH or Small Town General to treat their children most people would still opt for. GOSH. When push comes to shove even Charlie's Army would probably eat their words

Cinderllaspinkdresswasthebest · 13/07/2017 22:33

I posted last night on CA (I've now removed myself from group as they cannot be reasoned with) factual comments empathising with Charlie's parents but that Charlie's welfare was paramount.

Posts of how I should keep away if not supporting Charlie ( I do - just not in the uneducated way they do which is mass hysteria and not basing any of their support on facts)

I got a couple of PM's from ex-members who have have been threatened by posters on CA - one had a message to say they would come and kill her dogs (she has her dogs on her profile) and another to say that anyone with an alternative view have CA posters reporting to FB as fake accounts - one was banned for 24 hours but thankfully has her account back and to be very careful as they would target me next.

It's sickening and I've had to stop looking at the page as it's so maddening to read.

Alfiemoon1 · 13/07/2017 22:34

Ca aren't helping c and c they all seem as blinkered as the parents Charlie is not going to make a full recovery with this trial or have any quality of life but endure more suffering being sent to USA and prodded and poked even more
