Continuation of the discussion.

It looks highly unlikely that there will be a verdict today as GOSH have not yet been able to put their case across. The Gard family had their position heard this morning and currently an expert witness from the US is being questioned via video link.

While I wouldn't expect this witness to be an expert in everything, I would think that, if he is serious about treating Charlie, he (or the parents' legal team) would have obtained the necessary supporting evidence from other experts to fill in the gaps.
He clearly doesn't want an adjournment, anyway IMO.

Re: Facebook threats by CA towards GOSH, the chap who asked someone on FB to kill Gina Miller has been given three months in prison

Pop24 · 13/07/2017 17:16

Why has the NY doctor not examined Charlie already? In not doing so and having had to be asked by the judge to examine him it does strongly imply that he (doctor) is viewing it from a purely theoretical point of view and he is not considering Charlie as an actual patient/person with very specific conditions and needs. I think a lot of this is down to cultural difference in medicine. I just can't understand how the disagreement about head measurement has still not been settled?!

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 17:17

Judge says it's come to his attention that GOSH staff have been subject to the most vile abuse and threats.

HouseOfMouse · 13/07/2017 17:17

"Judge says it's come to his attention that GOSH staff have been subject to the most vile abuse and threats."

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 17:18

gla he brought it up

ChocChipBitch · 13/07/2017 17:18

'Judge says there have been threats to doctors...will be dealt with as severely as legal system permits'. At last!

HouseOfMouse · 13/07/2017 17:19

I am really pleased that the abuse has been brought up. At last!

goodbyestranger · 13/07/2017 17:19

Hurray about dealing with these crazy people issuing badly spelled threats.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 17:19

How anyone thinks attacking GOSH staff in this way helps Charlie, or his parents, is beyond me says the judge. #CharlieGard

It's grossly unfair that NHS staff who are working hard to look after sick children should be treated in this way, says the judge.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 13/07/2017 17:19

"Judge says there have been threats to doctors...will be dealt with as severely as legal system permits'. At last!"

I'm very happy to read this.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 17:20

woohoo! go jf

Umpteenthnamechange · 13/07/2017 17:20

The live discussion on CA page has suddenly slowed down after this last thing about vause

Umpteenthnamechange · 13/07/2017 17:20

Vause = abuse

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 17:20

@JoshuaRozenberg
50s

Case adjourned for short period while lawyers confer.

Rhodiolia · 13/07/2017 17:20

Thank god the judge is addressing the threats to the GOSH staff and the lawyers!

ShatnersWig · 13/07/2017 17:21

I have to say M'Lud has impressed me throughout

Alfieisnoisy · 13/07/2017 17:21

Not before time re the threats to staff and legal people. Absolutely disgusting.

MarthasHarbour · 13/07/2017 17:21

A small mercy at last

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 17:22

@rabbitnothare not as fed up as you'll be if people make comments of the kind that will leave MNHQ with little option but to delete this thread, though

What, for calling a Dr a quack?! Grin

darbyshaw · 13/07/2017 17:23

CA appear to be agreeing that the abuse is not acceptable - without even a hint of acceptance that they are the brainless fools engineering the abuse. It honestly beggars belief.

Ceto · 13/07/2017 17:23

CA suddenly realises that threats of violence sent via FB are traceable and punishable. That'll be an ugly shock to many.

Rhodiolia · 13/07/2017 17:23

Very few in CA discussing the judges latest comments Hmm

SomeDyke · 13/07/2017 17:23

"the judge was really irritated with them for coming to the hearing without that information."
Except when they get to state their case, they might have to explain that fairly pointless measuring with a tape measure when he has tissue swelling (certainly looks like that from the recent photos), and that measuring the skull from an MRI would mean getting him to the scanner, which isn't easy.

Personally, I think the judge was irritated because without numbers/facts, he cannot assess the issue that the parents raised. Would have been easier for him if they had been easily available, but GOSH might have to explain why they're not, and why they might not actually be relevant.

Glad to see the judge has mentioned this issue:
"Judge says there have been threats to doctors at GOSH and their lawyers. Says they will be dealt with as severely as legal system permits."

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 17:24

I am pleased too about him addressing the threats, I felt that was ignored by the media and mainstream reporting.

I suspect that the only reason that Laura Gard posted yesterday about this on the FB was because the legal team warned her.

Up until then she was heavily moderating comments and leaving the threats and abuse up.
