A friend of mine had a cousin who happened to also be a cousin of Jim Kerr from Simple Minds. Although my friend was not actually related to Jim Kerr she referred to him as her half cousin. Another friend used to boast that she and Simon Le Bon were at school together, they did indeed go to the same school but not at the same time. Anyone else got any vague claims to fame?

Max Beesley was doing research for "Bodies" at our local hospital when DH and I went for our first appointment to discuss fertility treatment. I came out of the room being pretty much none the wiser about treatment options, but very much wiser on how handsome Mr B is! Fast forward 2.5 years to when I was back at the hospital in labour with my IUI miracle baby, when I recounted the story to the Registrar and discovered that she had also met him and had his mobile number. Funnily enough, she declined to hand the number over to the gas and air crazed woman (me) that begged her for it...... Grin

I once spent half an hour in the company of (world-famous horseman) Mark Todd while being oblivious to his stardom. Really nice chap.

I only realised something was up when a gang of horsey girls started throwing themselves at him and actually squealing.

My primary school headmasters daughter dated a member of Blue and he came to the school at the height of their fame- I was off sick and completely gutted.

My cousin's daughter goes to the same school as an ex-priminsters daughter.
I meet Bill Oddie at a fish and chip shop in Cornwall when he was on holiday bird-watching! He was at the height of his Goodies fame back then!!
When training for the hospitality industry I served Jan Leemings mum - she was lovely - unlike her very rude daughter - who was astoundingly late and then very entitled 😡

My ex fiancé's, ex-girlfriend once worked with Nick Hayward's cousin. She was reliably informed that he was 'creepy'.

My mum is welsh and years ago, spent ages chatting about 'what the children were up to' at Anthony Hopkins in a hotel, because she thought he was someone else. He played along politely before scarpering...

Harry Enfields sister tried to set him me up with him (before he was famous) but I had to collect my cousins penfriend from Victoria and I stood them up (pre mobile days)

This connection is distant but still much closer than I'd like.

Apparently my grandmother travelled to school on the same bus as Jimmy Saville - and loathed him. She was most unimpressed when my cousin wrote to his TV programme (Jim'll-fix-it). She died long before all the stories about him emerged but she'd not have been surprised.

I went out with a guy who's cousen was married to Stings brother. While at the said brothers house I went to use the loo and caught the brother naked on the landing. He had gone to bed early because he was a milkman and not realising they had visitors had nipped to the loo naked!
