Has anyone seen or heard anything about today's court deadline where the Gard's had to produce their new evidence?

nina2b · 12/07/2017 17:24

...been my impression...

stitchglitched · 12/07/2017 17:24

I don't think any of the British huns would actually carry out their threats of violence, most of them don't even get off their sofa to go to the protests. But the American CA scares me, full of very pro life religious fundamentalists. I don't want the kind of people who would shoot an abortion doctor being riled up with violent imagery even if it isn't meant literally.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2017 17:26

I was the one who initially encouraged people to report identified NHS staff for some of the more florid posts on CA FB.

However, I see that some posters whom I believe to be healthcare professionals and whose posts on this and other threads I almost always agree with (eg lougle and meddie) take a different view.

I have reflected on this, as I am expected to do as in my profession, and concluded that I am as guilty as anyone else of sometimes overreacting Blush

I think that sometimes, eg the nursing student, a direct pm to the poster concerned, suggesting that they might want to delete their post/s would be best. For others, eg threats of violence to named individuals/institutions I would still report them with screenshots to their organisation.

Anyway, I'd like these threads to continue so hope that we don't start arguing among ourselves.

Where is OliviaMN with her "peace and love" when we need her?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 17:26

Agree please don't report people

I completely disagree. There's a reason they shouldn't be posting these things - because they're in a position of care, or authority. I don't want these people treating any of my vulnerable relatives.

If their behaviour is fine, they won't be punished. If it's not, they should face the consequences.

Ellie56 · 12/07/2017 17:28

Have just read on the CA FB page a post by a woman who said 'Yesterday there was a little boy on here who has no brain, but is at school, counting and everything'

Sounds like his abilities surpass most of Charlie's Army.

"but contacting universities is spiteful."
Can I just add that universities now have pretty stringent ethics codes not just for the obvious trainee nurses/medics/dentists/whatever, but also as regards research ethics and anyone, for example, who wants to use humans as research subjects. So the whole topic is taken very seriously. And where it isn't being sufficiently well-understood by the students, this will only become apparent if incidents such as the one being commented on are reported.

After all, I feel confident in the legal and medical ethics processes we are seeing in action at the moment, because we know that the ethical issues are being taken very seriously by all the professionals involved. From training all the way through to their professional life. And this involves commenting on social media when extremely emotive and distressing cases occur. I like to think that a university that received such a report would not just give the person concerned a ticking-off, but would look carefully at their training. This isn't picking on people (who after all made the decision themselves to comment publically and non-anonymously), but part of a process whereby standards are maintained, and also where standards are seen to be maintained.

And frankly, although as a non-medic, this current case should be making all such training providers think hard about their ethical training, because this case makes it clear how vicious it can become nowadays.

Bore Looks like a proposal was made yesterday.

Press release:
wenstrup.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=399940

The Proposal:
wenstrup.house.gov/uploadedfiles/201707111535.pdf

I gave it a quick read through;

1-Proposes immigrant visas for Charlie, Chris, Connie with possibility of LAPR status (perm residence)

2-Reduces available visas for 'regular' applicants from the UK by 3 either this or next fiscal year.

3-Offer good for 2 years. They must apply, pay fees, and meet regular criteria for admission

I have no idea what the 'general feeling' is about this in the House. And it doesn't mean that it will definitely come up for a vote. Congresspeople 'propose' things all the time knowing they'll never get to a vote. I wouldn't be surprised if this dies a quiet death. IF the US CA fools don't get the bit between their teeth on it.

Lightlovelife · 12/07/2017 17:31

Smiling mind I got the one from CitizenGo asking for a donation too. I deleted it. Shortly afterwards I got the one asking me to go to the demo tomorrow. I emailed again asking to be removed from their database.
You might get the demo one too.

rabbitnothare · 12/07/2017 17:35

How lovely. Some people seem determined to detract attention from the main issue.

Aren't they just?!

Most people who are a member of the professions being discussed here will know what the right thing to do is.

It starts from the bottom up, attitudes like those shown need weeding out for the sake of vulnerable people.

It beggars belief that some make them out to be the victims.

TheWeeWitch · 12/07/2017 17:37

It's working anyway - comment made on CA just now!

"Face book is blocking people from speaking. They barred a comment without any swearing on it. Its odd because they dont get rid of worse things on here. Face book hitlers"

Lelloteddy · 12/07/2017 17:39

GOSH are still reading and replying to PMs of support via their FB page.

alcin · 12/07/2017 17:40

Ex CA here!

I followed Charlie's case from the start, donated when when they were raising the original £1.3 million, I even ordered a couple of the merchandise tat (but nothing with his face on as that's just wrong) when the bits 1st came out.

The conduct & behaviour of CA is disgusting and I feel it has changed from a raising awareness thing (which I wanted to be involved in, if only to help raise awareness of mito) into a huge witch hunt.

Some of the comments are awful & I have been reporting some.

I have removed myself from CA as it no longer is the right support network that it was when it started out.

I really hope things get resolved tomorrow for Charlie, and heartbreaking as it is, he need to be let go soon with peace & dignity.

BlueNeighbourhood · 12/07/2017 17:40

Love the way everyone is calling CA 'huns'. Because this is what they are, bored housewives with nothing better to do than hate monger.

On one of the previous threads a poster said 'I really wish I could just grab Connie and shake her and tell her to stop. It's okay to let go'. I can't get that out of my head, Connie looks so drained and sick from fighting. It's okay to let him go now.

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2017 17:40

TheWeeWitch there would be no reason why there would be any news - the papers would just be filed in a bundle and delivered to the RCJ by the admin support for the barrister representing the parents.

FastAbsorbingCake · 12/07/2017 17:43

@Somedyke. I like to think that a university that received such a report would not just give the person concerned a ticking-off, but would look carefully at their training. I like your thinking

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 12/07/2017 17:44

Ooh I forgot to say earlier, I tweeted GOSH days ago to say I was proud to have them in our country [because loads of idiotic Americans were tweeting about 'death panels' at the time] and I'd donated. They liked it within seconds, so are obviously monitoring the feed pretty closely. That's another avenue of showing support.

Incitatis · 12/07/2017 17:44

I doubt very much that the US will want the financial responsibility of a very sick child, plus two unemployable parents accompanying him. He won't qualify for health insurance after all.

goodbyestranger · 12/07/2017 17:44

Yes, the mum's incredibly exhausted appearance does make me feel sorry for her - she looks as though she urgently needs a break from this sustained level of stress.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/07/2017 17:46

AcrossthePond55

Thanks very much for that. Looks like grandstanding then? (what a surprise)

GabsAlot · 12/07/2017 17:46

alcin i can compltly undrstand of course we all support charlie we want him to hav dignity and to be treated with respct

thy just want blood

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 17:46

Does anyone know what time the court hearing starts tomorrow?

stitchglitched · 12/07/2017 17:48

I think Trump and Pence have got what they wanted from this case, the chance to publicise it more in the US and use it to point score against 'socialised healthcare'. I doubt they had any intention of actually doing anything for Charlie. In fact Trump hasn't mentioned him since.

stitchglitched · 12/07/2017 17:48

It says 10.30 in the listings.

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 17:49

I also got the demo one light
