To think this song can't be serious. Please tell me it was created as a joke?

Just came across this song and video on my youtube. Apparently it reached number 1!

I'm traumatised from just watching it!

It was meant as a joke surely?

Ah, this is about as late as it got for me - before I got into 'proper' music (well, Space, Catatonia and other late Brit-pop Blush)

Largebucket · 10/07/2017 22:29

I think it's a bit weird that the Spice Girls never seem to be played nowadays. Not even at weddings. All Saints still sound great though,

ToffeePenny · 10/07/2017 22:30

OP - in case you are running away screaming, this is how to scream 90s style:

It's oh so quiet

ImAFurchester · 10/07/2017 22:30

SYSTEM UP WITH THE TOP DOWN
GOT THE CITY ON LOCKDOWN

Monkeyinshoes · 10/07/2017 22:31

Largebucket · 10/07/2017 22:31

Rude? The Divinyls.

IlPorcupinoNilSodomyEst · 10/07/2017 22:33

YouTube obviously knows how old I am, every one of these links has 'eliminate eye bags in two minutes' as the next suggested video

strawberrypenguin · 10/07/2017 22:34

Has no one mentioned The Coors yet? Breathless anyone?

Or alanis morissette and Ironic?

Glitter, colourful makeup, camoflage print, and massive wedge trainers...
Arghhh massive nostalgia! Grin

MummyIsAFreeElf · 10/07/2017 22:41

This one was horrible when it came out. On a day trip with my 3 children and it popped up on a play list. My two year old looked horrified and glared at us until it was over. I thought I was going to laugh forever!

Also no one has mentioned chumbawumba

Or chesney hawkes

LaContessaDiPlump · 10/07/2017 22:43

Largebucket · 10/07/2017 22:44

Chesney Hawkes - DH was on a stag night at Butlins in Bognor where he was the evening entertainment. "The one & only" it wasn't because he played it twice.

Questioningeverything · 10/07/2017 22:44

CornflakeHomunculus · 10/07/2017 22:45

The Kerrang channel in the late 90s anyone?

Fun fact: the singer of Powerman 5000 is Rob Zombie's little brother.

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 10/07/2017 22:45

God Alisha's Attic! They were amazing. I still listen to them on a regular basis.

Tartle · 10/07/2017 22:47

I loved Alisha's Attic! I think they still stand up now right?

I had also totally forgotten about the weird kid 90's Indian craze. What was with all these white boys prancing around to Sitars and pretending to find themselves?

Monkeyinshoes · 10/07/2017 22:47
