To think this song can't be serious. Please tell me it was created as a joke?

Just came across this song and video on my youtube. Apparently it reached number 1!

I'm traumatised from just watching it!

It was meant as a joke surely?

When you wore those Adidas trousers with the poppers and a pair of luminous trainers and thought you were so cool but one of the boys at school would always pull the poppers open the whole way when you hadn't shaved your legs and you wanted to die off

Amanduh · 10/07/2017 22:18

It was 1998 - what they're wearing was the height of fashion! Yes, really. It's 90's cheesy pop - and it was GREAT

Not cheesy but if you didn't know the lyrics to Gangsta's Paradise you were no one. I lived in VERY rural Ireland Grin

Just been reminded of Missing by Everything but the girl!
I once suggested it was the missing half of Babe by Take That.

Re-rewind, when the crowd say bo selecta!

crazypenguinlady · 10/07/2017 22:25

I have found my people! The 90s were fucking epic for music...pop, rock, dance, r'n'b.....

5ive and Shaggy were the greatest though. I'm so going to make a playlists of all these. So much better than the utter drivel noise of today!

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 10/07/2017 22:25

B*witched are on the playlist at my aquafit class. I have to listen to it every week...sometimes twice if we're a bit slow getting through the crunches.

Best 90's memory ever: My DSis's ex BF and his pals doing "C'est la Vie" at karaoke.

CornflakeHomunculus · 10/07/2017 22:26

Well there are far worse ways to spend an evening than scouring YouTube for 90s gems Grin

Largebucket · 10/07/2017 22:26

I've got C'est la Vie under my "Pop" Spotify stream. MY DCs love it - Ed Sheeran take note, that was the proper way to use a bit of Irish cheese. I'm 44 though so was actually too old for it when it was released.

When "I should be so lucky" was released, I remember watching Top of the Pops and there being some chat about a proper video not having been made yet so the BBC had filmed Kylie driving about with her head sticking out of a car sun roof. My friend was a massive Kylie fan and hadn't seen it so I described it to her at school the next day and drew a picture of a car with a head sticking out on the front of my maths jotter. I now think I might have imagined this though.

alisonyawn · 10/07/2017 22:27

I'm 29, and I fucking love this thread!

Also OP, you think this song is dirty? Listen to Spice Girls - 2 become 1. Only as an adult do I think WTF about what I was singing as a 9 year oldGrin
