To think this song can't be serious. Please tell me it was created as a joke?

Just came across this song and video on my youtube. Apparently it reached number 1!

I'm traumatised from just watching it!

It was meant as a joke surely?

Third best pop song EVER!!!

Aah the 80s... I actually somewhat pity teens today with their overly choreographed and styled to within an inch of their lives pop stars... managed by Simon Cowell and co.

Gingernaut · 13/07/2017 10:37

SeaWitchly

There was no SyCo back then, it was Stock, Aitkin and Waterman.

SeaWitchly · 13/07/2017 10:52

Ah yes Ginger, the heady days naff fashion and dance moves of Stock, Aitken and Waterman Grin

BishopBrennansArse · 13/07/2017 10:58

Wasn't SyCo a tea boy then? 😜

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2017 12:06

I loved B*witched, blame it on the weatherman etc..
total gorgonzola.
As for the featured song, they always said it was 'secretly' rude.

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2017 12:07

the one that goes 'she's homeless yes she's homeless la dah dee la dah da' always annoyed me (not B*witched)

Imbeingunreasonable · 13/07/2017 13:24

I hated most of the pop crap in the 90's but I did really like Blink 182, Meatloaf and the Manic street Preachers. Oh and Britpop.

But here's a selection of 90s songs that will forever be burned in my brain - I do like the Blink song though

queenofthedump · 13/07/2017 13:30

I give you my all-time faves...

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2017 16:18

The 90s was completely 'my' time, I left my teens then and my 20s were (mainly) a blast...
so many songs ingrained that take me right back to exact times and memories..
of the top of my head..
Scatman (so annoying! but you'll never forget it!) - drunk brits in Crete
Return to Innocence (Enigma) def my group of friends songs, doing the 'way eh yeh eh' bit as a joint or two was passed round...
Shine.. (Aswad) 'theme' of many a party
Say You'll Be There (Spice Girls) - forever known as the Damn Spiccy Girls.. there was a particularly angry Sikh man on the news I think it was, he had something against them, all I remember is him calling them those Damn Spiccy Girls.. (something about them wearing revealing clothes I think)
Paul Weller's Wild Wood (though this is bitter sweet for me)
SpinDoctors.. can't even remember the title ('if you want to buy me flowers' lyric)

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2017 16:19

ah.. of course.. just googled.. Two Princes
Also Jennifer Paige's Crush

alltoomuchrightnow · 13/07/2017 16:21

anything by Deep Forest
and Mori Kante's Yeke Yeke

No Scrubs - TLC.. absolute classic, reminds me of being in Manhattan, it was on MTV loads as was Madonna's song from Austin Powers (Beautiful Stranger)

TheWitchAndTrevor · 13/07/2017 20:44
