All of a sudden gosh "think" charlies in pain-wtf who do they think they are this isn't looking good

And sayin Charlie's head hasn't grown in the last 3 months u can see in the pics he's a big lad a growin really well He looks so healthy

No proof what so ever. GOSH ARE LYING MURDEROUS SCUM

Just a few comments on the CA page

Maudlinmaud · 10/07/2017 16:31

Where is the new evidence?
Why has mother been contradicted in court re the treatment and her statements she made earlier today?
None of this makes sense.

anotherdayanotherdinner · 10/07/2017 16:32

There are a lot of comments on the CA page about gosh saying Charlie can't feel any pain due to his brain damage but they are now medicating him for the pain? Does anyone know if he could feel pain with brain damage? I don't doubt gosh for a second but was wondering the legitimacy of these claims

Ceto · 10/07/2017 16:33

'PLEASE ATTACK gosh with a bazooka'

Right. Shooting at the hospital looking after Charlie is really going to help him.

Ceto · 10/07/2017 16:35

Brain damage does not preclude an ability to feel pain.

I've written before about a case I had some involvement in involving a child with hydranencephaly, which essentially means that above the brain stem is little other than spinal fluid. The child in question had scoliosis and muscle contractures, and it was clear that he could feel pain from those and that, conversely, he was much happier after hydrotherapy.

DubiousCredentials · 10/07/2017 16:36

CA reckon GOSH are giving him morphine to kill him. I don't know whether the laugh or cry at most of the comments. Why I'm still reading them I don't know.

Ceto · 10/07/2017 16:37

So CA would rather that Charlie be left in pain. Great.

Stopnamechanging · 10/07/2017 16:38

I have absolutely no legal qualifications but I thought that the judge was giving them advance warning that to have brought hearing on the basis of new evidence, they must fully justify it by Thursday.

Lancelottie · 10/07/2017 16:38

I think (no expert) that the brainstem is quite strongly involved in pain response and sensation, so if he has a functioning brainstem but no higher brain function, it may well be that discomfort and pain is pretty much all he can experience.

ShatnersWig · 10/07/2017 16:39

"Come on Judge don't make them wait"

The irony of a CA member saying this when the parents wanted the hearing in another fortnight. These people shouldn't be allowed to drive, let alone use social media

11122aa · 10/07/2017 16:39

CA do not believe he is in Pain as that is what the parents think.

DarthMaiden · 10/07/2017 16:40

I think what he's saying is that as Charlie's interests are paramount, dragging the case out can't be justified.

If they have new evidence he's very happy to see it, but he's not going to give them weeks to provide it.

sodablackcurrant · 10/07/2017 16:40

Surely pain relief is a good thing, whether it is obvious or not. But I am sure clinicians can gauge it with their professional experience.

There was a study done on older people with dementia a couple of years ago, and when they were given pain relief every day (paracetemol) their demeanour improved. They were obviously not able to say they were in pain.

My view is, give it. The alternative is someone in pain. That is awful.

But I suppose morphine is verboten in this child's case. Is there absolute evidence that the child has been medicated with morphine or is it another social media spin?

Anyway, nice to out on a high. I say this having seen two fairly young members of my family in a hospice slipping away peacefully on a morphine pump. It is what I would want for myself when the time comes and it can be given.

Trampire · 10/07/2017 16:40

NerrSerr, I've reported the "attack GOSH with a bazooka" comment to Facebook under the hate speech tag.

Whether anything will happen is anyone's guess, but in today's climate.......

CalmItKermitt · 10/07/2017 16:40

Poor child. I'm running out of sympathy for the parents now.

Writerwannabe83 · 10/07/2017 16:41

I've just read through all the Charlie Gard threads and you have all discussed it so wonderfully and empathetically. Prior to these threads I wasn't really up to date with everything that had been going on but all the discussions that have taken place have really bought it home to me what a truly upsetting situation this is. Those of you who see describing it as being a circus sound right unfortunately, that poor, poor little boy.

I hope the right decision is made for him soon and GOSH have my full support. I know the parents must be heartbroken at the thought of losing Charlie but this really has to end soon surely Flowers

SilverLining17 · 10/07/2017 16:42

CA want Jeremy Kyle to test Charlie's hair to see what drugs he been having as apparently GOSH have only started giving him morphine in the last couple of days.
My god it gets worse.

Why are they searching for other answers than this is a seriously ill child. They can't understand why Charlie is on morphine. They can't understand why GOS say the damage is irreversible. I mean the obvious answer it because Charlie is terminally ill. Why is this not an answer they seem to consider?'

Ceto · 10/07/2017 16:42

I'm afraid the parents have to believe he is not in pain, otherwise they could not justify to themselves having kept him in that state. But, if they believe he has brain function, I just can't understand how they believe that being absolutely helpless, unable to express distress, and dependent on a ventilator for several months is an acceptable quality of life for a baby - even if they won't accept that he can't see or hear.

alltouchedout · 10/07/2017 16:44

"I feel uncomfortable about some of the criticism of the parents on this thread"
Me too, CardinalCat. I think it's important we remember that these are people whose baby boy is dying. They can't accept the reality of the situation, they are desperate, and their desperation is resulting in actions which are very hard to understand and which I don't believe are in their son's best interests... But they are parents facing the loss of their child. I would be demented in the face of this. It's not them I'm angry with, even if they have been lying (which it seems they have)- it's the people who have used Charlie's appallingly sad case for their own ends, and their family and friends who should have supported them to let Charlie go with some peace and dignity and then to grieve and try to come to terms with their awful, awful loss.
As wrong as they are, they are suffering parents at the end of the day. I feel so, so sorry for them. I think they truly believe what they say and that is going to make it so much harder when the end comes.

Ceto · 10/07/2017 16:45

I'm quite sure it won't be a secret when morphine started to be given. But I guess if the parents want to give some of Charlie's hair to Jeremy Kyle or indeed a reputable hair strand analyst, there is nothing to stop them.

ShatnersWig · 10/07/2017 16:45

It is Charlie who is really suffering. And their behaviour is making it worse.

Stopnamechanging · 10/07/2017 16:46

Breaking news from the courtroom. regarding Charlie Gard. The Judge has set a full hearing to decide Charlie's future this Thursday based on new evidence. A victory based on Great Ormond St. Hospital's request that a dismissal be granted. #IamCharlieGard

Oh well, the pro life pastor seems happy with the outcome Confused

BoreOfWhabylon · 10/07/2017 16:46

sodablackcurrant the GOSH lawyer said today that Charlie is receiving morphine. We don't know how long for but I suspect it may have been for quite some time, since at the last hearing GOSH suspected but couldn't prove he could feel pain.

The parents have never mentioned that he is having morphine.

NotACleverName · 10/07/2017 16:47

Attack GOSH with a bazooka? The "army" have well and truly taken leave of their senses at this point. Just when you think they can't get anymore frighteningly deluded...

Saucery · 10/07/2017 16:47

I wonder if there is anyone now the parents would see as impartial.
