How often do you mop floors? Clean out fridge? Wipe skirting boards? Hoover stairs? Clean out cupboards? Wipe down outside kitchen cupboard doors?

OP posts:

Left up to me, every 2/3, even 4 weeks for floor cleaning. Fridge every 6 months or when things are mouldy, cupboards when moving house.

Left up to the cleaner all weekly except fridge and cupboard cleaning which is done on rotation.

I love my cleaner!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 09/07/2017 11:25

Mop - once a week
Stairs - once a week
Clean out fridge - maybe twice a year Confused. Should do this more really. It's not grim inside though, promise!
Skirting - vacuum them every fortnight, never wipe unless something is spilled
Clean out cupboards - as and when I notice they're dirty
Wipe cupboards - as above

Hulder · 09/07/2017 11:26

Mop floors - Once a week, cleaner does it. Only more often if cat is sick on them
Clean out fridge - When it starts to smell. So almost never
Wipe skirting boards - Didn't even know this was a thing. Possibly the cleaner does it I don't think she does
Hoover stairs - Once a week, cleaner does it
Clean out cupboards - never
Wipe down outside kitchen cupboard doors - when something has splashed on them. Possibly cleaner does them too.

Mop floors - when they need doing, probably once every week-10 days
Clean out fridge - when it looks like it needs doing
Wipe skirting boards - I run the duster over them when I Hoover so probably 4th day or so
Hoover stairs - never personally, I can't physically do it (disabled) so DP does when he gets time... maybe every month or so?
Clean out cupboards - not unless something spills...
wipe outside cupboard doors - every time I wipe the sides, I give them a once over. It's a grubby life living with an ag contractor 😂

AceholeRimmer · 09/07/2017 11:28

Hoover stairs - once a week by cleaner
Clean out cupboards - whenever they look like they need it so probably a couple of times a year

When people come over... in a 1 day slog, or what I can fit in in the 10 mins before people pop round. Grin

I did sweep the tiled floors today as we walked sand in from the beach.

The fridge gets done about monthly, and as needed. I'm just off to do that now as I'm having a delivery in half an hour.

Stairs are wooden. Swept when there's dust balls in the corners.

Clean out cupboards - say twice a year and as needed, wiping down the outside of the doors is more regular.

I'm more of a potterer with cleaning, I do what takes my fancy at any given moment. Sometimes I walk into a room and ask what will make the biggest impact in 10 minutes and just do that, other times I spend a day sorting everything out to the nth degree.

fourquenelles · 09/07/2017 11:35

Whenever the sun shines directly into the kitchen and I realise how mucky everywhere is - so much less in the winter than summer

Whenever I am due visiters - I am fairly antisocial so once a fortnight at the most for all of these things.

ReinettePompadour · 09/07/2017 11:35

Mop floors - daily, sometimes twice but I have spaniels and theyre mud magnets.

Clean out fridge - weekly when I do my shopping. I clean it before putting new stuff in.

Wipe skirting boards - daily/every other day - see above re spaniels
Hoover stairs - twice weekly sometimes more due to spaniels being hairy as well as muddy.
Clean out cupboards - do you mean kitchen cupboards that keep food in or under stair cupboards/shoe cupboards/wardrobes type thing. Kitchen cupboard with food in weekly as per fridge.
Kitchen cupboard with cooking utensils/pans maybe 2 or 3 times a year, when they look like they need a clean.
Under sink/craft cupboards twice a year maybe.
Under stairs (toys etc) maybe twice a year before birthdays or Christmas.
Wardrobes/shoe cupboards - when I buy new clothes for summer/winter/school so maybe 4 or 5 times a year.
Wipe down outside kitchen cupboard doors - twice weekly sometimes more due to spaniels.

My life would be so much easier without spaniels Blush

Scoobydoobydont · 09/07/2017 11:39

With the exception of people who live in a very dusty environment surely people are making work for themselves?

Why the hell does a fridge and cupboards need cleaning out regularly as we never do ours and it's not a problem.

Each to their own but a house where jobs like that were scheduled would drive me potty, especially at this time of year when there are so many things going on to to outside.

Fair enough as a last resort on a Sunday in February if there is. I thing better to do, but spending time in august with my head in a cupboard? No thanks

OohMavis · 09/07/2017 11:40

Mop floors - When they look dirty. They're very forgiving Grin (just bathroom and kitchen that are moppable)
Fridge - When it looks dirty. This can be anything from a week to a month.
Skirthing boards - When they look dusty. Every month or so, maybe?
Stairs - When they look dusty. God knows.
Clean out cupboards - Haha!
Wipecupboard doors - Every week or so, when they look dirty.

I'm a slattern.

YouTheCat · 09/07/2017 11:48

I'm with Titty.

I do stuff when I can be bothered.

Jaynesworld · 09/07/2017 11:51

Mop - use floor wipes daily unless mop day which is once a week

Hoover stairs - once a week or more if needed

Outside cupboard doors - daily

Skirting boards -weekly

Inside cupboards/fridge - once a month

HearTheThunderRoar · 09/07/2017 11:51

Mop floors - never and I've been in this house 12 years (though they are vacuumed weekly)
Fridge - once ever year
Skirting boards - never
Stairs - don't have any
Clean cupboards - every couple of years
Cupboard doors - every year or so

Admittedly it's only me, the teenager and the cat.

GreenHillsOfHome · 09/07/2017 11:57

Mop floors - never and I've been in this house 12 years (though they are vacuumed weekly)

I can't quite get my head around that, presuming you don't mean you clean them by other means?

slothqueen · 09/07/2017 12:01

Mop floors- kitchen 2/3 times a week, everywhere else once a month
Skirting boards- every time I vac so about three times a week
Hoover stairs - once a week
Clean out cupboards - Blush many times when I was pregnant. Rarely since.
Wipe down cupboard doors- all of them about monthly but whenever I see a mark on a door I'll give it a quick clean.

Oly5 · 09/07/2017 12:04

We have a cleaner who vacuums and does the floors. I clean everything else when it needs it but never the skirting boards. Skirting boards?!

Brittbugs80 · 09/07/2017 13:00

Kitchen and toilet and bathroom floors every three days.

Outside kitchen cupboards once a day. Can get it done while the kettle boils.

Inside cupboards, fridge and skirting boards once a month.

Stairs twice a week.

dollydaydream114 · 09/07/2017 13:04

When I look at them and think "Oh, that looks a bit grubby."

I can't really imagine having an actual schedule for housework. I mop the floors when they look like they need mopping. How often that is will vary hugely depending on whether it's wet outside and muddy feet have been trailing through, whether I've cooked something messy in the kitchen, etc. I might need to mop twice in a week or it might happily go a month.

MyheartbelongstoG · 09/07/2017 13:05

Every day except skirting and fridge.

Walkingthedog46 · 09/07/2017 13:10
